ash and ariel left the group for a while to talk. ash seemed to only care about one thing, while ariel cared about something else.

"why are we even doing this, ash?" ariel pleaded. "please, i've already killed three of them, i can't do this anymore!" ash narrowed her eyes.

"once you come to the land of illusions, there's no leaving," ash replied simply. "the land of expectations doesn't exist. you and i have sent them on some wild chase they can't complete. and in the process, we can rid them."

"please, i can't do this anymore, ash!" ariel pleaded again. ash smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes.

"if you love me, you'll continue helping me," ash said, gritting her teeth.

"i don't think i wanna do this anymore," ariel muttered. "i want to believe what i heard a long time ago that love is free, and beautiful. what you call love is destroying my life, and it's destroying your soul if you even have one!"

"you've already fallen too far to turn back, ariel!" ash growled. "you're too far under my spell. soon it'll take over completely, and all your friends will be gone."

"why aren't they using their powers to fight back?" ariel asked suddenly. ash simply laughed.

"you think i'd try to kill them without weakening their power first?"
