Have you guys read it? Omg omg. It's so tragic, Newt's back story, his parents got killed and the only thing he had left in the world is his sister, Lizzy :( I love how newt sees the best in people and values every life no matter what. He thinks everyone is special. That's why in the death cure he got cross when he and his friends were referred to as 'subjects'.
He hated how he was chosen as a control subject at random, as if he meant nothing and was just another piece of finding the cure for the flare virus ( which they never freakin find, there was so much death for nothing).
J Dash is such an amazing writer, making us love these characters so much, but I kinda hate him when he goes and kills one of them off or gets them hurt or taken away. It breaks my heart :( but anywayy, you can read the prologue at Entertainment Weekly
