Chapter XXI

Finally,we arrived to Dark Night's castle.When I saw it,I was shaking.I felt fear to persecute my body.
Kelta,Stefanos and Ian felt the same.
Except Laksmi,of course.The fearless.
"Okay.Let's go in!"she said cool,while we were looking frightened the castle.
We climbed the stairs and we opened the huge door by twisting a lever with chains.
We went in.
The castle was full of dust and there was a red carpet that drove us to the other rooms and fake knights and few portraits were decorating the walls.
"If we want to win the Dark Knight,we need to find his sceptre and destroy it.In this way,he will become powerless and we gonna win him!"Ian informed.
"Since when you study demonology?"Kelta asked curious.
"That's a great question!"Stefanos exclaimed.
And Laksmi intervented.
"Yes!Bravo,Ian!No!"she said with sarcasm."You gotta kill him with his own sceptre!By the way,Meredith will kill him!"
I stopped walking when she said that.While they were chatting,I was trying to find a secret room which could drove us to the Knight!
"Why me?"I complained.
"Um...You are the Lightened?"she reminded me.
"So?"
"What do you mean saying "so"?There is no "so"!"Laksmi protested.
"Oh,girls!Please,keep calm!Let's focus on our purpose.We need to find the sceptre and kill the..."
"Everybody stop!"I said.
I saw a door.
We freezed for a while.
And then,I destroyed it by waterbending.
We were found at a dark room and the only light was at the center of the room where there was an altar with a sceptre on it.
"It must be this!"I exclaimed.
"So?What are we waiting for?"Ian said.
I made a slow step forward.
There was a deathly silence.
I would go there and grab it.
But...
From the shadows,a man appeared with long black hair and golden eyes.He was wearing a black cloak.
"Not so fast..."he said with an evil voice and he was caressing the sceptre.His nails were sharp.
"So,Lightened...You think you can kill me?"he adressed to me.
I didn't have the power to answer.My heart would come out from my chest.
Despite that,I managed to find courage.
"That's my purpose"I said bravely.
The Dark Knight laughed.
"Silly,silly Lightened.You think you are powerful,but deep inside...you have fear"he said.
That was true.
I felt so powerless that time.
"Meredith,you have to catch the sceptre.He will kill you!"
I was watching his fingers doing some strange things.
Like they wanted to catch something.
I was about to run.
But the Dark Knight raised his hand and hypnotized me.
My eyes turned black.
My friends would help me.
But...
"One step more and she will be dead!"he threatened.
Kelta was shaking and crying.Ian hugged her in order to comfort her.
"Now,Lightened...Take the sceptre..."
I took the sceptre with the diamond on the top.
"Amd put it on your heart!"
My friends were shocked.
Laksmi screamed.
I didn't have the sense of the real world.
My body was somewhere else.
At a dark forest.
"Meredith..."I had heard an angelic voice.
I turned behind.It was Johnahth!
My Johnahth!He was smiling.He was peaceful.
I was moved.
I hugged him amd gave him thousand of kisses.
"I have missed you so much!"I said while I was caressing his brown hair.
"I have missed you too!"he said.
His smile remained on his face.
"I am afraid!"I said.
"Shhh!"
His fingers were touching my cheek and my lips.
"Don't be afraid,Meredith!You can win the demons!You have a secret power inside you which must be come out!You haven't discovered it yet.But when you do,you will be powerful!"he said.
I hugged him.He was tangling my hair.I have missed so much his touch.
"Now go back!"
I refused.
"No,I can't leave you!I will never leave you!"I said crying.
Johnahth made me be calm.
"You have to go,Meredith!"
It was true.I gotta go.I took a deep breath.
"I love you,Mery"he said my nickname.
I laughed while tears were dropping.
"I love you too"I said.
And I kissed him with passion.
And I was about to leave.
"Meredith!"
I turned behind.
"Tell Ian that I forgive him!"
I nodded.

Before I realized it,I  had put  the sceptre to my heart.
I was hardly breathing.
And I was bleeding.
The Dark Knight was laughing out loud,while I was spilling blood.
Ian noticed that the sceptre was on the floor.
So he grabbed it and from the diamond,a strike came out.
And the Dark Knight was dust in the wind.
I continued to hardly breathing,but the scars had left.
I was alive.Perhaps,because we gave to the sceptre the Knight's life instead of mine.
The last leaguer was killed.
