The quartet of Maina, Hitoshi, Tayyuk and Zenna have now reached the town's marketplace, blasters ablaze.

The slaves being held captive looked to where the shots came from and saw reptilian slaver after reptilian slaver drop dead from them. Many of Ay-Shinn's troops never had the chance to draw a weapon.

The Ardonian captives took cover as soon as they saw their drivers killed by the youths. They were unarmed and therefore could not fight against such adversaries, if that was what the assailants were.

Tayyuk swung from building to building with his chains of seemingly endless length, slaying many a slavemaster with his blades. Some fired blasts at him but he easily avoided them thanks to his agility and quick reflexes typical of Tytonians.

Several reptilians proceeded to tackle the bounty hunter American football style. But they could not overwhelm him. The Tytonian threw the aliens off with a yell, then spun his chained blades around, killing most of them and severely wounding a few.

Maina shot several of the reptilians with the rifle-like blaster she took from a guard back in the palace. She was a great shot no matter what weapon she used, as she had been shooting guns since she was a twelve-year-old huntress in the deserts of Ardonia.

Zenna was not a bad shot herself. Maina often took her on her hunting trips against her mother's objections and taught the ebony-skinned girl how to use a blaster. Now she was putting her princess's teachings to good use defending herself from the tyrants enslaving her people.

Hitoshi was more careful in shooting Maina's blaster. He hid in corners from time to time, as he's seen in action movies. From these corners he fired the gun at his tormentors, dropping some but missing most of his shots.

Of course this was to be understood, since Hitoshi was only an average human boy who had had no training in these types of situations. He was of course scared, but he would do anything for his girlfriend. This, to him, felt very unreal, almost dreamlike. Perhaps it was the adrenaline in his blood, giving him almost limitless strength and the will to carry on.

"Hitoshi!" called Maina as she too took cover in a corner adjacent to the bespectacled boy's.

"Yes, Mai-san?" replied Hitoshi, ducking in his corner as blasts from the enemy are being fired.

"Where is Emiko?" said the Ardonian girl as she took out one of the reptilian shooters with her stolen blaster.

"I dont--" said Hitoshi before being interrupted by having to duck under a blast from the enemy. "I don't know! She helped us fight off the enemy ships."

More of Ay-Shinn's soldiers arrived, seemingly overwhelming the four with blaster fire.

"Damn," said Tayyuk as he hid in the same corner as Zenna. "Where are those scoundrels when you need 'em?"

"What scoundrels?" asked Zenna as she momentarily popped out of the corner, taking out one reptilian with her gun.

"Well, to tell you the truth, Hot Legs," said Tayyuk with an awkward smirk, "I kinda promised these goons that the princess will pay them handsomely if they rescue her."

"What?!" exclaimed Zenna, narrowly avoiding a blast from the enemy. "You scheming Tytonian snarloff..."

"You Ardonians sure have a funny way of speaking," said Tayyuk as he eyed the girl's voluptuous frame.

Zenna turned red as she gave the Tytonian bounty hunter a quick punch in the gut, causing him to curl up on the ground, groaning.

"P-Pervert...!" said the Ardonian maidservant, crossing her arms as she turned away from the agonized Tayyuk.
