Chapter 18

We sat silently admiring each other. The air was cold but Robin kept me warm.

"Kacy? When do you think we could do the ceremony because you may not, but I think you are ready. We have been together for a while now." Robin said, breaking the silence.

How should I know!? He's the expert, shouldn't he be the one planning (if I accept of course).

"I don't know Robin. I do think I'm ready, but I have no idea what'll happen. Does it even matter when?" I asked him.

"No. Just as long as we do the ceremony, I'm happy." He said looking into my eyes.

"How about around Christmas?" I asked.

He nodded his head.

"That's a good idea. The only thing is, you'll have to become a wolf before we do anything." He said.

That got me thinking, will I still be able to see my family if I'm a wolf?

"What's up?" He asked.

"Will I be able to see my family if I'm a wolf?" I asked, repeating my thoughts.

"Of course you can!" He said laughing a little. That's a relief.

What I am about to say now will change everything.

"I-I want this now." I said. I am so sure I'm ready, plus Christmas is just around the corner. The sooner I become a werewolf the better.

Robin stared at me with disbelief written all over his face.

"Are you s-serious?" He asked.

"Yes. The sooner I learn to shift, the sooner I will get used to my new self." I answered.

"There seriously is no rush-"

"Robin. I am serious, I want this now." I said sternly. His face softened.

He gave a long sigh before saying

"OK."

Robin guided to a part of the forest I hadn't been to before. We went slowly so I could favour my last moments of being a human. If being a wolf means being with Robin permanently, I will do it. I love him with all my heart and I will not waste another moment.

We stopped at a beautiful place in the forest. There was an arch way made from tree's and through it was a large flat rock. The whole place was full of vibrant colours.

"This is the place many wolves have been born. My father showed me this place when I was a pup. I remember being excited to be here, running around and sitting on the rock." Robin said. This place must mean a lot to him.

"Come on." He said, guiding me to the rock.

"Are you sure you are ready." He asked quietly.

"Yes. I am very sure. Just tell me what I must do." I answered.

"Well first, you must say a little verse and then I will have to bite you." He said. He had to bite me?

"Will it hurt?" I asked.

He shook his head.

"Only if you don't say the verse right. Then you will become a rogue." He said. I had read about rogue wolves. They didn't really belong anywhere, some even got lost into their wolf.

"No preasure on me then." I joked. Robin smiled at me.

"OK, you need to remember this verse and say it exactly." He said. He cleared his throat before reciting the verse.

"Spirits from the deep who never sleep, be kind to me.

Spirits from the grave without a soul to save, be kind to me.

Spirits from the trees that grow upon the leas, be kind to me.

Spirits from the air foul and black, not fair, be kind to me.

Water spirits hateful, to ships and bathers fateful, be kind to me.

Spirits of the earthbound dead that glint with noisless tread, be kind to me.

Spirits of heat and fire destructive in your ire, be kind to me.

Spirit of cold and ice patrons of crime and vice, be kind to me.

Allow this being to be of the spirit of the wolf!"

I took a deep breath and recited the words exactly. When I finished Robin shifted into a wolf and bit my neck. To my shock, I didn't feel a thing.

When he changed back and put some clothes on (which he packed into his bag before we left) he asked me if I was OK. My neck was bleading slightly but I couldn't feel a thing.

"Yes. W-what will happen next?" I asked.

"Well, at midnight you will change for the first time. It'll be painfull at first but the other times you shift will be natural and won't hurt. You can sleep at mine so you don't trouble your mum and Kailey." He said reasuringly.

"Thank you Robin." I said quietly, looking into his eyes.
