"Perseus!" a shout came from behind me.
I turned to see Athena. I took a deep breath so I didn't go off on her right here. "Yes?"
"After all that I've done to you...before and after and then now, you still stuck up to me...in a round about way, to your father. Why?" she asked.
"Because...like I said, we are loyal to a fault and would still take a spear for you. But also because, soon I will have to ask you for your daughters hand in marriage. What you say is up to you, but it will happen. I'd just rather have you upset than pissed off."
She narrowed her eyes. "You said my favorite daughter. You have taken a liking to Annabeth have you not?"
I nodded. "But she expressed her feelings to me before I did."
Athena glared at me. "Alright then. As much as I hate the idea, it is far better...in the long run. You do plan on taking her as your wife and not a consort, correct? Having Father make her immortal?"
I nodded. "I do. And I swear, you will never see a biological demigod of mine running around, though, if I take a liking to any particular demigod and adopt them, that is a different matter all together."
She sighed. "I don't think there's anything I could really do to stop this. I'm a little startled at the speed–"
"I get that too. I would normally wish for a longer amount of time to court her, make her fall for me like a man is supposed to, but this gods damned prophecy and the fates have cursed me and turned time against us. Quite literally it seems, with Kronos rising yet again."
"Yes, that seems to be the case. You know, this will make you even more powerful, right? She would probably become a god, not just immortal. What with you and I insisting, Father won't refuse. He's got a soft spot for me, and he still loves you, that much is clear. He will do anything you say, within reason, to get back on your good side."
I looked at Athena. She was probably right. I mean. He was going to release the good Titans at my word, agreed to Hestia being queen, and came to Apollo, Artemis, and I for our mothers hand in marriage. That is...if she'll have him. I don't know. What I remember, mother wasn't bitter, but she sure wasn't happy Zeus left her, let alone just used her.
Athena was still eying me. "Yes, and while you say you won't do anything to harm or upset my daughter outside of normal relationship ideals, you are our father's son. How do I know you won't turn out like him? Look at Apollo."
I sighed. "I know, Athena. I've thought about it too. But before I never had kids, I didn't have any woman in the long expanse of life I had as Poseidon's son, and I'm just now falling for your daughter. I think I'm the perfect balance of Apollo and Artemis. Look at my powers. It's a mixture of their domains, and with Artemis swearing off men, and Apollo being a womanizer...I think that I'm that in between. I have someone I will be with the rest of my immortal life. And I want it to be Annabeth."
A gasp came from behind us, and we turned to see a head of blonde curly hair receding at a fast pace.
