"Well I don't really want to die either. But, I don't see how we could stop that one way or another. If the Fates cut my string, then there's nothing anyone can do about it, right?" Luke asked me.

I smirked, "You act as if I care about what those old hags want or think. I've done far more than they can account for and had them ticking with anger more times than I can count. I think it'll be fine if I break their so called "Fate" just a few more times."

Luke looked at me. "How?"

I procured a bag from no where. "Remember that quest you went on? The one you were so against going on because it had already been done?"

"The Golden Apples? What about it..." he trailed off. "Are those what I think they are?"

"Indeed. You don't really think I'd let either of you die do you?"

Luke stared at the bag stunned. "Why would you go to this much trouble for me? I don't get it. You don't have any relation to me, and yet...you do all this?"

"Well...by technicality...you're my nephew on my godly side, and my second cousin on my demigod side. We are family. And besides...I seem to remember a certain sister of mine having a real soft spot for some son of Hermes. Huh...I guess it wasn't you? I can always take it back and give it to the real guy?"

"No! There isn't anyone else that can have her!"

I smirked as I looked at him, my smirk becoming progressively more evil as the seconds ticked by. "You hear that, Thalia, no one else can have my sister. I wonder who he means?"

Luke paled. "I thought you were going to threaten me not to hurt her...this is so much worse," he hissed.

I grinned, "I know! Isn't it great? I get the best of both worlds! I don't have her mad at me for threatening you, and I still get to see you piss your pants in fear. I'm such a genius."

Luke cursed and turned to see Thalia blocking the entrance to the arena. She cracked her knuckles as lightning sparked across her fingers, eyes, and the tips of her hair.

"Well, I'll leave you two love birds alone now, but seriously...hurt her, and you'll have more to fear than just her wrath. I'm sure you'll be fine. Those little sparky punches are just...love taps."

I dissolved into the shadows to find my wife and tell her all about the little arena episode; all the while chuckling to myself.
