Needless to say, Annabeth was not at all amused at my little head game with Thalia and Luke. She gave me such an earful for it, that I that she was going to stay mad at me for quite a while. Thankfully she didn't, and after her little rant, we were back to normal.

And by normal, we were planning for this upcoming war. It was approaching faster than we liked and the truth was, we weren't ready. Even with the human reinforcements, the influx of demigods, and the pretty much disbandment of the ancient laws, we seemed to be outnumbered here. When the gods fought against the Titans the first time, the amount of major monsters in their army did not add up to what they had now. And Typhon wasn't with them back then.

We are facing an unprecedented amount of extremely difficult odds that I wasn't completely sure we could fight back against. Granted, yes, I was as powerful as one of the Big Three without a seat on the Council, but that's only because of who my father is, and because of the situation of my birth. Being that I was the perfect balance of my siblings, I also shared their power, in a sense. So I had both their power levels inside my own body, and I could tap into theirs if I needed to, during an eclipse, as I had done bringing back Thalia. But I alone was not going to be able to sway this battle one way or the other.

No, in fact, my chosen hero would be the only one capable of that feat. And not because he was a hero. I'd make sure he got to Kronos. He had to do it as a mortal, before he could receive the apple. That gave me an idea. If I could make that apple into a a liquid and put it into a capsule.... Then maybe I could do what those TV shows had spies do and break the capsule to cause death. Cyanide capsules or something like that. But in this case, it would allow him to figuratively cheat death, should something happen. I'd talk to Annabeth about that. I know she would help as soon as she knew the reasons behind it.

But we still had so much left to do. I looked up as Luke walked in, battered and bruised. "How'd it go with my li'l sis?" I asked him, trying my best not to laugh.

"I hate you," came his reply.

"Suuuure you do. Anyways, did you do it?" I asked, truly curious if this young man in front of me had the gaul to face her wrath.

"Yeah. But I also did something else...a little extra."

My gaze hardened, jumping to possible meanings. "Like what?"

He grinned, "I tossed her an apple."

I rolled my eyes. He definitely has a death wish. "Well, you certainly don't fear death. On the other hand, I've come up with a possible way for you to cheat it. As you know, you have to fight Kronos as a mortal. But, I've come up with and idea should you be seriously injured, near death, or if you kill him but find yourself in a bad spot."

"Really? How?"

"I've got to get with Annabeth to see if she could do it, but basically a capsule put in your mouth. It'll be filled with the extract of a golden apple so that should you bite down, the effect would be no different than if you ate one normally."

"Wow, that's pretty badass."
