It has been about two months since Jen and Mordecai met. Mordecai watched over Jen like any guardian angel would do. However, ever since that night where he saved Jen from a robber and she kissed him on his cheek, he couldn't help but looking at Jen with a set of brand new eyes. He stopped to notice things like her dimples and the way her laugh sounds like a baby chipmunk. But there was one problem, he couldn't confess to Jen his feelings for her. He thought that if he gave it some time, it would all gradually fall into place but there would come, one person that would throw a monkey wrench into his gears. Monday morning, Mordecai was in the boys' bathroom, looking at himself in the mirror, after a deep breath, he made his way to Jen who was by her locker. "Morning Mordecai," Jen said with a smile. "Good morning" Mordecai responded rather shyly, "what's up?" "I need help with my chemistry homework," Jen said. "Ok, cool, can you meet me in the Chem lab say around lunch?" Mordecai said. "Sure!" Jen answered, "Thanks so much, I swear Ms. Simonds is not human." Mordecai laughed at Jen's statement as a burlar and muscular boy, no older than Mordecai, pulled up alongside the two.
"Oh, Mordecai, this is my friend Travis, he's on the football team AND the basketball team!" Jen said.
" 'Sup Bro!!" Travis said with his fist pointed towards Mordecai. Mordecai timidly gazed at the wide open grin on travis, then he looked at the fist that was pointed at him. To break the awkwardness, Jen grabbed Mordecai's hand, rolled it up into a fist and quickly bumped against Travis'. "So Jen, lunch time, Chem lab?" Mordecai blurted out. "Yeah" Jen said. "I got to get to class, bye" Mordecai said, walking off. "Bye Mordecai," Jen waved. "Weird little guy ain't he?" Travis said. "Shut up," Jen laughed.
At lunch, Mordecai was in the Chem Lab, preparing to tutor Jen in chemistry. He made sure that he had sufficient amounts of beakers, test tubes, bunsen burners, etc. He waited long for Jen, he wondered what was taking her so long and he started to worry for a bit. During that time, he heard some noises coming from the football field outside the chemistry lab. He peered outside only to see Jen and Travis. Jen was under a goalie post trying to catch soccer balls that were being kicked by Travis. Mordecai, upon seeing this and realizing that lunch was going to end soon, decided to pack up and leave to go to class.
