Dark

It was dark.
It was cold.
It was deathly silent.

The teens lay scattered in the room, bodies limp and breathing ragged. They were randomly placed in the room, and it was cold enough to see your breath (if there was enough light in the room to see.) Speaking of light, the darkness was so intense one wouldn't know that they were awake if they were in there. The room was a classic solid concrete, with one vent to allow in air and cameras on all four corners of the room. It was five feet all around the room, a perfect cube. Jennette was the first to wake up, covered in dried blood and injuries that need to be checked out. She moaned and lifted herself off the ground, stretching and yelping in pain. Her voice bounced off the walls, scaring her. She wasn't fully aware of the current situation that she was in , and she put her hands to the ground , feeling her way around and shivering. She stopped when her hand grazed something warm.

"Ah!" she yelped , falling back on her injuries and yelping once more. A voice called out to her.

"J-Jen?" it weakly said. Jennette nodded slowly, even though it was wasted in the dark.

"Who are you?" the voice was low and raspy, unidentifiable. The voice coughed.

"Ash..." it weakly said. Jennette laid down on the floor beside her and hugged her.

"Ashton, where are we? I'm really cold. What happened?" she asked a series of questions, and Ashton only shrugged.

"I don't know."Her mind thought of the other half of the group, and she rolled to her other side, sitting up propped on her elbow.

"N-Nash?" she said with a shaky voice. "Reese?"

A cough came from a corner. "M-yeah?" it was Reese. A few shuffling noises were heard as Reese struggled to gain consciousness. As soon as he grabbed Jennette's arm, he held on tight.

"Why is i-it so cold?" he grabbed Jennette's arm tighter. She shivered and hugged him.

"I don't know. But why is it so dark, too?" Ashton, in the dark, tried looking around , but it was pointless. Suddenly a wheezing sound was heard.

Nash.

He followed the trio's voice and sat close to them , the four close together and shivering. Ashton nudged Jennette.

"Make fire." she whimpered. Ashton felt Jennette shake her head.

"I - I can't." she said. Nash sighed.

"But just try to emit heat. I know your skin can give off heat. Reese, try too." By now, the teens just uttered simple phrases and sentences, shivering to the point where their fingers and toes were numb. Jennette shook.

"Is it working?" she asked. Ashton huddled closer to her.

"S-s-slightly." They huddled closer together, until they fell back asleep , one by one.

The teens sat in a huddled heap, shivering and to the point of starvation. The only way the survived was eating the icicles that formed from the cold A/C that froze the room. After what seemed like forever (however it was only about a fortnight) the lights that the kids didn't know where there turned on and a loud voice came out of no where.

"Hello." it stated simply. The teens looked at each other, faces ragged and skin pale. They were thinner than the last time they saw each other , and they appeared miserable. The intercom spoke once more.

"Enjoying the cell?" he asked. Ashton stood up weakly.

"Why are we in here?" she asked. The voice chuckled.

"Well, you escaped of course! We can't just have that happen, now can we? Not without punishment. " the voice lowered as he went on, to the point where his voice was a rumble at the end. Jennette stood up , along with Reese and Nash.

"That's illegal," Nash pointed out.

"Not if you don't get caught." the voice said, a hint of evil laced in. Jennette sighed.

"I want food," she told the intercom. It spoke.

"Well, we could've supplied you with all the food you wanted. But you chose to fight, and now we have to explain to the upper authorities that one of our helicopters faulted." he lied, but continued.

"You're not alone." Suddenly, a concrete panel shifted above the teens, and two bodies were dropped from above, and the panel shut once more. The bodies pushed themselves off the ground and looked at the four teens. "Have fun with these mutants," the intercom spoke. They were twins, with each a dash of freckles, blue eyes and red hair. They were most likely put in the same situation as those four were, as they were skinny and frail looking as well. They both dusted their selves off, and the slightly taller one spoke.

"Hi. I'm Keiren , and my brother is Kaiser. " he looked over at him. "He doesn't talk."

Kaiser shrugged. Keiren looked at the four teens in front of him.

"You guys are......?" Despite their current situations, the twins seemed oddly happy.

"Jen."

"Ashton."

"Reese."

"Nash."

Kaiser and Keiren observed them closely, before Keiren smiled.

"I'm going to make the assumption that you guys have powers? Not even the government can find this place." Keiren rambled on, before giving the group a questionable look.

"So?" he asked. Reese spoke.

"Ashton has mental abilities. Telekinesis and the like. Nash here has incredible strength and the ability to transform his skin into stone. Jen has fire wielding abilities, and was what was probably keeping us alive during our two weeks of hell in here. I can absorb others powers, however, it only a temporary power. Do you have any powers?" he asked in return. The twins nodded eagerly.

"Kaiser has the ability to draw metal and other substances towards him. He can also move at , like, really fast speeds. " Kaiser nodded excitedly. Keiren pointed to himself. "I have, a great gift. Way better than Kaiser's." he said, smiling at his twin. Kaiser shoved him lightly.

"Well. What is your power?" Jennette asked , intrigued. Keiren smiled.

"Can I use your big friend there ? I need to demonstrate." he said smiling. Nash shook his head.

"Will it hurt?" he asked , taking a step forward hesitantly.

"I can make it hurt, but not now." Keiren smiled and stepped in front of Nash.

Suddenly, Nash dropped to his knees, eyes glazed over. Reese poked him.

"You okay?" he asked. Keiren shook his head.

"He cant hear you. He is somewhere else. " And suddenly, Nash screamed.

"Ahhhh!" Keiren pulled away, sighing.

"I wasn't even that forceful." he said, rolling his eyes.

Ashton looked at him. "Mind powers?" she asked, smirking and looking at him. Keiren nodded.

"And you?" he asked. She looked at him.

"I believe we share a power. " she said, looking him dead in the eyes, as he stared right back. It was quiet for a moment , until Jennette gasped.

"Look!" she pointed at the space between those two. There was some type of reversed magnetic energy, as if you would push two magnets with the same pole towards each other, but stronger. Jennette reached her hand out to it, and she was launched back, against a wall. She stood up weakly, and looked at the staring duo.

"Guys! " she said. They both pulled away and looked at her, wide eyed.

"That was a lot of raw power." she said, also in awe. "I think those two are the most powerful , mental wise, in this group."

Nash shook his head. "Kaiser is." Even the silent twin looked at him with a weird look.

"If he can move at faster paces, then he is slowing down time . If he can learn to harness that power, he can permanently control time."

"Do you guys realize how much power we have, combined? We could become something so intense that we could wipe out the human race." Keiren pointed out.

The group stared at each other in silence.
