"Don't go near Jennette," Ashton laughed, running up to the rest of the teens. Jennette stood beneath a tree at the park,smiling evilly.
"Why not?" Nash questioned, worriedly looking at the giggling girl. Ashton smiled.
"She remembered that she can breathe fire, and now every time she talks she's doing it on purpose." Ashton and the rest of the group, Reese, Brynne, Kaiser, and Nash looked Jennette, who covered her smiling lips with her hands. Ashton smiled at the remark Kaiser made in his head.
I guess you can say she's full of hot air, Ashton laughed. Kaiser looked at her wide eyed, then smiled, realizing he's been caught.
Jennette walked over , smothering smiles. Reese looked at her.
"You're not going catch anyone on fire are you?" he asked. She shook her head.
"Are you gonna talk, then?" Brynne smiled. Jennette nodded. She opened her mouth to say something, but a small flicker of flames came out. She threw her hands up to her mouth and giggled.
"Scratch that," Nash said.
"You know, it feels weird. Not being in constant danger all the time? Laughing? Hanging around like regular teenage friends do, it's a nice change-" a rumble beneath Brynne caused her to stop talking.
"What's that?" Jennette asked in all seriousness.
The teens looked down at the ground, however that was not the cause of the rumbling. Reese looked up and noticed a large object dropping down on then from the sky. He yelled.
"Ashton! Forcefield!" but it was too late.
The object dropped down quickly, causing a huge explosion and a mushroom cloud to form after. The explosion was deafening , and the silence that followed after even more so. For a moment..
The Earth stood still.
The teens lied on the ground. Not moving, not breathing. The were scattered like leaves in the wind, tossed around as if they weighed nothing.
Hours passed, as more bombs were dropped, in places near and far. The teenagers sat still, heart beats slowing down to a fatal rate. Days passed as the blast had removed what seemed any sign of life around them. Ashton woke up, screaming.
"Guys! Guys??!" Brynne woke up, along with Nash and Reese. Jennette and Kaiser woke up soon after.
"What the fuck happened?" Nash asked. He gasped when he looked at Jennette.
"No fucking way, she has-"
"Kaiser!!" Brynne yelled.
"Shit, Brynne!" Reese shouted.
The teens observed each other closely. They couldn't believe what their eyes saw. Each of them blinked, and rubbed their eyes. Jennette pinched herself.
"I can't believe this. There's no way we can have-" Brynne stated.
"We're mutants, deformed mutants," Ashton said, body shaking. "We have ....."
Cliffhanger!
Okay, so this was the end of this book. No more surprise chapters.
