Chapter 28 - Tell me

"Zosia, I really don't know what you mean. I don't know what gossip you've heard, but it's not true." Colette was trying to sound convincing, but it wasn't working.

"Colette, stop lying to me. I heard you. I've been stood outside that door," she pointed door behind her, rather angrily, "for the last five minutes. So don't tell me you don't know what's going on, because you do."

Colette sighed. "Fine, I'll admit it, I do know. But I can't tell you."

"Why not?" Zosia asked angrily. "Col, we're going round in circles here, just tell me. Me and Zollie don't have secrets."

"Zosia, it's not my place to tell you, it's up to Ollie. If you have no secrets, then I'm sure he'll tell you soon."

"Colette, you don't understand. I need to know, now."

"But why Zosia? Why do you need to know right this second."

"Do you remember what happened last time someone kept a secret from me? Dad tried to convince me that there was nothing going on then too, and look how that ended."'Zosia said, getting upset.

"Oh Zosia. That's not going to happen." Colette tried to reassure her.

"And how can you be so sure? It must be important if he's not going to tell me. When am I going to find out? When it's too late; when Ollie's dead, and Penny's left without a father?!" Zosia spat, tears rolling down her cheek.

"Zosia, Ollie isn't dying. It's nothing like that, I promise you." Colette went over to Zosia, and held her while she cried. "Shh, don't cry, come on Zosh, I thought Penny was supposed to be the loud one." She tried to joke.

Zosia gave a shaky laugh, and pulled herself out of Colette's embrace. 

"Alright?" Colette asked.

Zosia nodded, and wiped away her tears. 

"Do you want to go and see Ollie? I'll look after Penny." Colette offered.

"Thanks." Zosia gave a quick smile, and rushed out of the room, desperate to find out what the secret was.
