Chapter 25 - The first day of the rest of our lives

About a week had passed, and Zosia and Ollie were nervously awaiting the doctor's visit. Today was the day they decided whether or not Zosia and Penny were well enough to go home. Both of them were hoping for good news; they couldn't wait to take their baby home.

"Zosh, stop worrying. It'll be fine, you're both doing great." Ollie tried to reassure his stressed out fiancée.

"But what if he thinks Penny's not well enough? I mean, she's not been feeding very well." Zosia replied, momentarily looking up from her daughter, whom she was trying to feed.

"Zosia, she's fine. Just stay positive, okay? You can't be getting worked up, it's not good for you."

Zosia was about to protest, when the door opened, and the doctor walked in.

"Miss March," he started.

"Dr." Zosia corrected, "and where's Mr T?" She asked.

"He's busy at the moment. But he's filled me in on your situation, don't worry. So Dr March, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine." She replied.

"No feelings of sickness or fatigue?" 

"No, none."

"Good. And how's the little one?" He asked.

"She's alright, she's just not been feeding very well."

"Right, when you say 'not very well', how do you mean?"

"Well, she's often sick after feeds."

"That's absolutely normal, nothing to worry about. Well, from what I've seen, you're both doing really well, and there's no reason as to why you can't go home. You can leave whenever you want." He smiled, and left the room.

"See Zosh, I told you she'd be fine." Ollie said, standing up and putting Zosia's stuff in a bag.

"We're going home." Zosia smiled, "we're finally taking our baby home."

"Yep, are you ready?" Ollie asked, taking Penny, and putting her in the car seat."

"Ready as I'll ever be," Zosia replied as she stood up.  "Come on, let's go."

"Are you ready to go home sweetie?" Ollie cooed, looking into the car seat, a huge smile on his face.

"What's up with you?" Zosia asked.

"What do you mean?"

"You look like you've just been told there's a heart transplant, and you can lead." Zosia joked.

"I think you'll find you're the theatre junkie. No, I'm just happy. I never thought I'd have this, a wife, well soon enough anyway, and a daughter. I've got everything I've ever wanted."

"Aww, that's so sweet." Zosia smiled, "let's get out of here. This is the first day of the rest of our lives.

And with that , the pair walked out of the maternity ward, arm in arm, ready for the challenges ahead of them.
