Kiss by the Ocean | Adrienette
Marinette let out a silent, sad sigh as she gazed at the sweet couple in front of her. Adrien and Lila were busy taking pictures together on both of their phones, mostly Lila's apparently. Occasional kisses of Adrien in Lila's cheek were luckily snapped by the happy brunette, which eventually made Marinette glummer than usual.
She broke her gaze from the couple and looked out of the window instead, silently regretting joining her class' weekend getaway to the beach not far from their school. The bluenette was not supposed to come, and she was not planning to in the first place.
Marinette knew that Adrien and Lila will just act lovey-dovey throughout the trip to the beach, and her speculation was right. Well, she has always been right when it comes to her speculations; just like what Adrien feels towards her, she knows that she is nothing to him and she is right—absolutely and sadly right.
She can honestly see the love and adoration in Adrien's eyes whenever he looks at Lila, and it is a clear sign that he is really in love with her. She hates to admit the fact that Lila's really lucky, and how unlucky for her part—she is simply a pathetic, shy girl with no talent anyway. She saw it coming, after all.
This just made Marinette's heart break more, the pieces of her heart now slowly separating from one another, ready to fall with no one to catch and mend it for her.
If her bestfriend Alya did not just persuade her to come, she would not even see Adrien, the guy she is deeply in love with, give all of his attention to the girl he loves right in front of her face. She would not be able to see how happy he is when Lila kissed him in the cheek—if it were not for Adrien Agreste, she would not be this hurt and fragile.
She tried everything just for Adrien to notice her—she would always give him gifts during special occasions, she would always smile and greet him good morning whenever he arrives at school, and she would always try to cheer him up whenever she sees him down. She would basically do everything just for him to be happy.
Maybe she was not that enough for Adrien.
Maybe she is too ugly for his liking.
Maybe she does not really deserve him at all.
Maybe she is too sad to be loved.
She bit her tongue to hold back the tears that are threatening to spill from her bluebell eyes. Marinette is not really the type of girl who cries over guys and all.
But Adrien is different.
He hurt her, a lot.
And he does not even know that.
She is known as a lionhearted and a kinda lily-livered girl, but not a poltroon.
Marinette's phone suddenly vibrated, causing her to blink for a few times before actually looking at her phone on her hand. It was a text message...from the Mayor's daughter.
Chloé Bourgeois.
"Are you okay, Marinette?" the text said.
She scanned the whole bus to look for Chloé, and she saw her seated beside Kim—their seat not really far from hers—his right arm on her waist and her head comfortably leaning on his shoulder. Chloé smiled at her when their eyes met, her blue eyes filled with happiness for she finally let go of the past and changed for the better.
Marinette and Chloé are not really close, but she is glad that Chloé surprisingly became a nice and loving girl, with the help of Kim, her boyfriend, who she actually turned down a year ago.
