Someone that I used to Love | Adrienette
"I like you a lot, Adrien," a tint of red overlaid her pale cheeks as she finally blurted out the words that she wanted to say in front of the person she loved for three consecutive years—that she was even labeled as a pathetic lovesick teenager and yet, Marinette Dupain-Cheng still continued to love him despite of the mere fear of not loving her back.
Heck, who knew her fear would come into reality today?
Adrien chuckled loudly to grab the attentions of the students around them at the moment—a mixture of confusion and amusement faces were formed right after. The flustered bluenette widened her eyes as she scanned her surroundings, all eyes were staring at her petite figure. Marinette gulped nervously before meeting the eyes of the smirking boy in front of him.
"Marinette," the blonde let out an amused chuckle before smiling sarcastically at her. "you are such a pathetic school girl—confessing her stupid love for a popular guy like me that practically turned down all of the girls that liked me. Are you not concerned of your reputation after this love confession of yours?"
"Not at all," the bluenette shook her head as the corner of her lips curved into a genuine sad smile. "what matters most is I already told you that I secretly liked you for three years which was really difficult for me to tell you knowing the fact that you do not really care about the feelings of others anymore and that I might get hurt if I confessed my feelings."
Marinette giggled as tears slowly streamed down her delicate face—abruptly wiping them away with the back of her hands. "I already knew that I would get humiliated and hurt when I finally confessed to you, Mr. Agreste." she looked up to meet his eyes while new tears formed in her eyelids. "But I silently wish that you will go back to your old self, Adrien."
His green eyes widened.
"The Adrien Agreste that was once unpopular—the silent boy who used to be so kind and thoughtful to everyone, even to the people who do not deserve to be treated right," the bluenette smiled at him. "which made me deeply fall in love with you."
His hands folded into fists.
Marinette exhaled a relieved sigh—the smile on her face remained plastered. "And, now that I realized that you have completely changed into a different person, and that you will not bother to go back to the way you used to be, I guess the Adrien that I used to know before already faded away and that he will never come back."
She looked at him with her bluebell eyes showing utter disappointment and sadness and spoke softly, "I guess from now on, you are just someone that I used to love, Adrien Agreste."
His heart broke into pieces.
