Changes and Lila Rossi (Part Two) | Adrienette

"Shocking, right?" The sly blonde uttered, before taking a sit beside Lila with a smirk playing on his peachy lips.

To his dismay, the apprehensive brunette just stepped on his foot, making Adrien wince in pain. Lila gave him the What the hell are you doing here?  look, and quickly diverted her eyes back to Marinette, who is smiling too sweetly at her.

"I am not surprised," Marinette spoke. "in fact, I knew that this would happen, anyway."

Adrien can see it in her eyes that she is sad and hurt, and she does not want them to know so she planted a smile on her face. He immediately looked away before she notices him. "So, Rossi, is that the reason why you want to talk to me?" she queried, tilting her head a bit.

Marinette called Lila by her last name, which means she is really mad but she is just trying to conceal it. Adrien knows her too well—she does not use a person's surname if she is not that infuriated or ballistic. Lila pursed her lips, and took a deep breath. "Actually, yes. I did not know that Adrien would be here with us," she paused. "and tell you straightaway."

"Coolness!" Marinette smirked, and clasped her hands in delight as she placed her chin on top of her left hand. "Since when did you guys started dating? You did not inform me, hmph."

He knows she was just acting like they are cool and all, but deep inside her blood is boiling to the highest temperature and the urge of strangling Lila is very strong within her but she controls herself not to do so.

"Lila and I started dating after we broke up, Marinette," Adrien mumbled, before a grin formed on his lips.

She seemed flabbergasted, but she soon masked it with a sweet smile, "Oh, is that so?" she muttered, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "Maybe Lila is more sluttish than I am, wait no. Let's just say she is a bimbo, to have at least small respect for a poor lassie like you." she smiled sarcastically at Lila, her eyes were now set downcast.

"Marinette," he glared at her, but she did not care at all. "enough, alright? It is not her fault—."

She cut him off with a chuckle, "Come again, Adrien?" she blinked for a few times. "Not her fault? How can it be not her fault if she was the one who told you to break up with me!" she screeched, which made the entire cafeteria grow silent—all eyes diverted to her petite figure.

"Seems like we have drawn all the students, huh?" she smirked at Adrien, causing him to roll his eyes exasperatedly. She slowly stood up from her seat, and cleared her throat. "Hello, everyone! I am very sorry that I screeched and caught all of your attentions. I am here to explain why, so listen carefully."

"Marinette, please! No!" Lila cried out, which made the bluenette's smile grow wider than usual.

"So you see, my so-called friend right over here," she beckoned to Lila. "was deeply in love with my ex-boyfriend," she then pointed at Adrien. "and she told him to break up with me so that she can have him."

"Lies!" Adrien stood up, glaring intently at Marinette. "It is not her fault why I broke up with you, alright? The real reason why is that I do not love you anymore, Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" Adrien spat, which made some students gasp, including Marinette.

"B-But you promised," she whispered, that made the blonde chuckle.

"Adrien," Marinette mumbled with happiness interlaced with his name, her fingers entwined to his as they gazed at the stars above them. "I love you."

He looked down at her, and a smile crept on his lips. "I love you too, princess. Forever and always."

"Promise me something," she met his eyes that made her heart skip a beat for the millionth time already. Marinette still cannot believe that Adrien Agreste fell in love with a girl like her, who is only simple and prosaic. But, despite of that, he made her feel that she is special and beautiful. Until one day, bam! She fell in love with the famous model of Paris.

"What is it?" he asked and tilted his head, making the bluenette blush like a tomato.

He's too cute.

"Promise me that you will love me no matter what," Marinette whispered softly, before he nuzzled his nose to hers which made her giggle lowly.

"I swear," he leaned in, and kissed her passionately under the moonlight. She wrapped her arms around his neck, to deepen the kiss. She can feel him grin against her lips, "I will never stop loving you, Marinette Dupain-Cheng. And that is a promise, princess."

Adrien leaned closer to look at her deeply in the eyes. And with a sly smirk, he added, "Promises are made to be broken anyway, Marinette."

"I will never stop loving you, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, and that's a promise, princess."

Marinette hastily blinked away the hot tears forming in her bluebell eyes as she smiled sadly at the teenage boy in front of her—stepping back in preparation of walking out from the dramatic scene that they have caused in the cafeteria. Marinette nodded, "I am sorry, I thought you meant what you promised," her voice shamelessly cracked. "silly me, huh?"

And with a heavy heart, she turned her heel to completely walk away from Adrien and Lila—her tears uncontrollably spilling down her cheeks as her feet dragged her farther and farther from the two.

He felt extremely guilty, like completely, truly, and verily guilty of hurting his princess.

Because the truth is, he did mean what he promised.

But, he is too late now, is he not?
