Midnight Shenanigans (Part One) | Adrienette
"Are you kidding," Marinette grumbled, rubbing her bluebell eyes as she rose from her bed. She took a glimpse of her wall clock and it read; 12:17 am. "It is already midnight, Bridgette! Gosh, why did you wake me up?"
Bridgette, her elder sister, smiled mischievously, "We are going out, silly."
"What?" the little bluenette gave her a disapproving look. "This late? I guess you are the silly one here."
She rolled her eyes, but still has her evil smirk planted across her face, "C'mon, Mari! We will just be out for an hour." she asserted. "Besides, Felix will accompany us."
"Felix Agreste, your boyfriend? Well, if this is just a 'late romantic date' of yours, sorry but I am not going," she crossed her arms, after air quoting 'late romantic date'.
Bridgette raised an eyebrow, while looking at her little sister weirdly, "We are just getting ice cream, you goof."

Going out in the middle of the night was not such a bad thing to her at all. The streetlights of New York were wrapped with Christmas lights, giving the city so much color. It also made the road glow with a variety of colors.
A smile crept on her lips as she thought of Christmas. Every year, her family would stay in New York to celebrate Christmas Eve with her grandparents. That is why, Bridgette and Marinette are here in New York, getting frozen ice cream at Uncle North's.
It was quite ironic that the school Bridgette and Marinette are in is in New York while they actually live in San Francisco. Literally speaking, it is a bit far from their hometown, can't they just move in with their grandparents? The thought of living with their grandparents is actually quite intriguing for Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
"Here is your broccoli-flavored ice cream, Mari," her sister gently placed the cup on the table with a sly smile.
Marinette pressed her lips into a thin line and diverted her eyes to hers, showing that she was not in the mood for her silliness.
Bridgette took a spoonful of chocolate ice cream, before taking the sit across from her little sister, "Geez, that is green tea."
"I expected that," the little bluenette mumbled before taking a grab on her spoon, digging it in her ice cream. "that is the only flavor I order here."
"Of course I know that," Bridgette playfully rolled her eyes, while Marinette just gave her a small smile.
After their small talk, the sisters quietly finished off their ice creams. They threw their trash and headed towards the 'donation area' where customers drop off money for charity. This is their habit every time they go here at Uncle North's—dropping money bills and occasional cents. Bridgette and Marinette decided to drop twenty dollars, before leaving the shop.
Marinette just realized now that Felix was not with them in the shop.
The bluenette furrowed her brows in confusion, "Where is Felix, though?" she queried, while observing the direction that they are heading to. "And where are we going this time?"
"He is in the convenience store not far from here," she replied, calmly. "and that is where we are heading to right now."
"Why did I not know that?" Marinette said rhetorically.
But Bridgette answered her anyway, "You zoned out while he was informing us that he needs to buy something in the convenience store."
Marinette just absentmindedly nodded in reply.
They already reached the convenience store, and Marinette grew a bit tired due to their short walk. She told Bridgette that she will just go and grab a bottle of water since she still has money left to pay for it.
To her surprise, the convenience store is not just an ordinary one at all. This one is bigger than she thought it would be. As Marinette looked for the 'Drinks' section, there were a bunch of eerie guys subtly following her. They do not look like her age though, like they are twenty year olds or something like that.
The bluenette just rolled her eyes, ignoring the fact that a group of weirdos are following her. Obviously, there are hidden cameras in the store and they would be screwed if they will do something deleterious to her.
As soon as she found the section, Marinette immediately took a grab of a water bottle and opened it, before chugging some water down. She breathed out a sigh of refreshment, before twisting the bottle cap close.
She started to head back to the entrance where her sister, Bridgette, is waiting. She would occasionally look back, checking if the group of eerie guys were still following her. Because of that, she did not notice that there was a caution sign saying the direction she was heading to has a slippery floor.
As she knew what would happen next, her foot slipped, causing her to lose balance. Marinette covered her mouth with her palm as she attempted to let out a shriek. Her bluebell eyes widened when a hand held her forearm, preventing her to fall on the floor.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng slowly traced her eyes up to the person who is holding her forearm, until now. She realized that a guy caught her, and he looks peculiar yet customary.
His cold stare was slowly giving her chills, so she immediately stood up and straightened the folds of her shirt. Marinette cleared her throat, and diverted her eyes to him again.
I swear, I could look at him all day.
"Um, thanks," she tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear. "for not letting me fall on the floor."
He rolled his eyes, fixing his black jacket, "Next time, watch where you are going."
The tone of his voice was very intimidating, and it caused her to take a step back a bit, "Y-yeah, I know. I-I am sorry." Marinette stuttered in reply.
His face softened, and Marinette could see the regret in his green alluring eyes.
But it was later replaced with an emotionless face, causing her face to fall but she made it subtle for him not to see it.
"You better be sorry," he said, too coldly. "your carelessness wasted my time."
With that, he left her standing here, speechless and hurt of what had just happened.
Who is he, anyway?

This story piece was actually taken from one of my unpublished books, Crybaby | Hiro x Riley!
And yes, I used to ship them before but I accidentally and fortunately jumped into another fandom called Miraculous Ladybug.
I'd probably post more unpublished chapters here so be ready!
Also, I apologize if there are some grammatical errors in this one-shot. I didn't really back read this story because I am too lazy to do so, heh.
Thanks for reading!
