Chapter 44: The Last Compulsion

Nasa ospital kami ngayon. Kaname Inozuka tried to revive Cheska but I suggested na isugod nalang siya sa ospital.

Sofia's still traumatized. That's why I left her with Arah.

Nasa ER ngayon si Cheska. Hindi naman ako pwedeng pumasok kaya nasa waiting lounge ako. Fuck Cheska! Please survive baby, please..

Napatayo ako agad ng lumabas ang doktor. Nasa likod naman niya si Kaname. I already met Kaname. Siya ang nanalo sa Literary Quiz na sinalihan namin noon ni Cheska. Kaklase ko rin siya dati.

"Is she okay?" I asked the doctor.

"She's fine. Marami lang talaga siyang nainom na tubig kaya nahirapan kayong i-revive siya. But now, she'll be okay. " I nodded and sighed with relief. "Can I go now sir? I have things to do."

Nang magpaalam na ang doktor naupo ako at nakahinga ng maluwag. But then Kaname sat beside me. May inilapag siyang folder sa lap ko.

"What's this?" I asked.

"Resignation Papers ni Cheska."

"What? How can she--- wala namang pirma ah."

He turned another page. Medical results at may statement at pirma ni Lance. "I don't understand. Bakit bawal nang magpatuloy si Cheska? Because of her medical condition? What about it? Dahil muntik na siyang malunod?"

"Hindi na pwedeng magtrabaho si Cheska dahil sa kondisyon niya. Based on the law, that's a valid reason in filing a resignation. Lance filed that. Hindi pa kasi alam ni Cheska. That's why I already sent you another Secretary. Alam na rin to ng Daddy mo. He already signed Cheska's papers."

"Hindi mo sinasagot ang tanong ko." My voice raised.

"Kailangan na ring lumayo ni Cheska kay Sofia. She might kill her. At yung kanina, yung sinabi niyang sinampal siya ni Cheska at aksidente yung nangyari, it was all a lie."

"Shit. Kaname, ano to?! Pinagtitripan mo ba ako? Sagutin mong tanong ko!"

"Sofia pushed Cheska that's why she fell off the seawall! Si Sofia ang may pakana ng lahat! She was the one responsible with the footage you saw during Cheska's 17th birthday. Sinira niya kayo para mapunta ka sa kanya, for God's sake Justin! She even compelled you. I helped her once pero ngayon tinatama ko na ang mga maling ginawa niya!" Natulala ako sa sinabi niya. "Tangina Justin! Stop pretending you love Sofia and not Cheska! Stop pretending that you don't care for her! Cause I fucking know you're still inlove with her!"

The footage was a fake?! "Why didn't you--"

Kaname cut me off, "I can't get near you. Sofia won't let me. Ayokong makapatay ng tao for self-defense. But Lance helped me. And I owe him a lot that's why I'm protecting Cheska." It took a long time for him to continue, "Sofia and Lance are Mafias. And I'm--"

"A vampire. I know."
Noong una pa lang, alam ko na ang pagkatao ni Kaname. Nagselos ako sakanya dati that's why I researched about him. Nalaman kong marami na siyang napuntahan. Marami.rin siyang identities. Buhay na siya during Magellan's times. At ganon parin ang itsura niya ngayon.
