Laura's P.O.V
I felt nothing. I felt completely numb. I couldn't move. I couldn't open my eyes, infact I could hardly breathe.
"Still no sign of the patient improving." I heard one of the nurses say. "We're gonna keep the machine running for a few more hours, if we have no change, we're going to have to switch off the monitor" Another one said.
As much as I tried, I couldn't move, I couldn't open my eyes. Everything was black. I could only hear everything around me. I'm pretty sure I'm alive. Although, I might not be for long.
I heard shuffling around and then everything was silent.
Ross' P.O.V
I was in the waiting room. Tear stains all over my face. I cant stop crying. "Dude, she'll be okay." Rocky said softly. "NO!" I yelled. Everyone looked at me. "Rocky, she wont be okay. She just got shot in the chest!" I cried. "She could die" Tears were running down my cheeks. Stormie cuddled me close. Damiano and Ellen were balling their eyes out. "This is all my fault. Why did I let her jump infront of me?!" I blamed myself. "Ross, it wasn't your fault" Ellen said, wiping her nose into her tissue.
"Rossy.. the bullet came too quick. It wasn't your fault Laur jumped infront of you." Rydel gently said, tears falling from her eyes.
I wiped my eyes and got up. "Where are you going?" Mark asked. "To see my wife!" I cried. I went into the room. And there she was, hooked up to machines by wires. She looked lifeless. Her face as pale as anything. I went over and sat next to her. I grabbed her hand tight. "Laura.." I cried softly. "Please wake up.." I begged. Kissing her hand several times.
No movement. "I am so sorry this happened to you" I whispered. I could still see her stained dress, covered in blood. "This is all my fault"
I stayed silent for a few minutes, crying into her shoulder.
I then felt a twitch. Her hand had quickly moved. "Laura?" I said, my eyes widening. She murmured a few times. "Laura?!" I yelled. "Wake up" I pleaded, kissing her forehead time and time again.
Everyone came in. "Guys! She's moving. She just talked" I said, still kind of crying. "What?" Ellen said. She ran straight over and looked at Laura. "My poor baby" She cried into Damiano's chest.
The nurses rushed in. "We have movement." One of them exclaimed, rushing over to the wires. One of them ran over and put an injection into Laura. I had to watch them put all sorts of drugs into her. I had to sit here and watch how much pain she was going through right now.
"Okay, are you guys family? Friends?" The nurse asked. "Uh.. family" I said. "Right, well we run some tests and Laura has two broken ribs, she got shot right next to the heart. It was a miracle she hasn't died. She should be alright. You guys can stay as long as you like but please, not past 10pm" She said.
We nodded. "When will she wake up?" Damiano asked. "At this stage, it's kind of hard to tell. Could be minutes, hours, days, weeks.. she's in a coma" She replied. "A coma?" I yelled, I started to cry.
"We'll leave you two alone for a moment" Ellen smiled and everyone left the room. "Laura, please, please wake up. You can't be in a coma. You can't leave me" I said, tears falling from my eyes.
Suddenly, her eyes flicked open. "Laura?!" I softly shouted, not loud enough for the others to hear. She looked around. "R-R-Ross?" She asked, blinking constantly. "Y-yeah?!" I asked, taking her hands. I shot up immediately. I blinked a couple of times, making sure I wasn't dreaming.
"Where am I?" She said, coughing. Suddenly, red stuff shot out of her mouth. "Ow" She screamed. "Laura, baby!" I said, kissing her forehead. "NURSE?!" I shouted. Two nurses rushed in, along with my family.
