Laura's P.O.V
We got out of the car, and into the police station. Marie cradled in my arms. She's starting to get really heavy, jeez.
We opened the doors and walked in, there were literally officers everywhere you looked. I was getting quite uncomfortable having all of these middle-aged policemen just staring at my every move.
We shrugged it off and walked up to the counter. The man looked up from the desk with a blank expression on his face. "Can i help you two?" He asked. Obviously, that's why we're here. I rolled my eyes and Ross spoke up. "It's really important. We're here because my wife--" He cut Ross off as soon as he said wife. "Wife?" He chuckled. "Aren't you two a little young to be getting married?" I looked at Ross. He sighed. "Whatever, but she's getting stalked and threatened by a guy that's been locked up before. It's a long story.. can we see someone?" He begged.
The policeman looked at us for a moment and checked his book. "Well, we have an officer spare in five minutes. Her name is Kylie. I'll give her a call and you two will be next in line. I hope this isn't a prank kids, we don't have time for stuff like that." He warned us.
We nodded and sat down. "Kids?" I said, angrily. "I mean, we do look like kids. Even though we're eighteen." He laughed. Marie fell asleep. But luckily, I was sat down so she wasn't that heavy.
We waited five minutes, just looking around and talking then a tall, brown-haired lady came over. "Hi." She smiled. "I'm Kylie. If you would like to come this way.." She suggested, walking off. We followed slowly behind her.
She walked into a small room, it sent shivers down my spine. Ross and I used to watch a lot of cop shows with rooms like this. It made me feel like a criminal. "So, take a seat." She told us.
We sat down. "Aw, cute baby. What's her name?" Obviously she was trying to make small talk, obviously thinking we were dumb. "This is Marie." Ross chimed in. "What a lovely name." She was sorting her papers out. "So, what brings you here?" She folded her arms on the desk.
I turned to Ross as it was a horrible memory. "A few months ago, Laura and I got married.. we were in the chuch and we had just said our vowels.. a kid named Leon Cooper had known Laura a while before at her school and they dated for a while, before we got together, well, we were together before they dated but it's confusing." The lady just laughed.
"And then Leon turned out to be a nasty thing and Laura told him she wanted me back. He took things into his own hands and well.. turned horrible. And ever since, he'd been harrassing Laura, trying to win her back. She'd told him over and over that she wasn't interested. But he didn't take the hint. And at our wedding he--."
Ross stopped, he looked like he was about to cry at the memory. I saved it. "He shot me." I blurted out. Kylie's face went blank. "Yep. He shot me. On my wedding day." I tried not to cry myself, I caught a tear falling from Ross's eye but he quickly wiped it away. I rolled up my shirt and showed her the huge scar. "Ouch.. I'm so sorry." She softly said, whilst writing down things in her notebook.
"What's done is done, right?" I said. She looked at us. "And he got put into prison. But he got out early on perol. And he's been harrasing me ever since. He keeps texting me and he's threatening to kill Ross if I don't divorce him." I started to cry but Ross pulled me in for a hug.
Kylie took the phone and read the messages. She continued writing things down. "Thank you for bringing this to our intention." She said softly. "You two have a moment and I'll be right back." She told us and left.
I sighed. "Ross, I'm so scared. What if they don't believe us?!" I said, crying. "Shshsh, babe. They will." He kissed my head.
A few moments passed and Kylie came back in. "So, we have decided to set up a court date and bring Leon into it. We'll send some officers round to his home and patch things up from there." She warned us. "How long will that take?" Ross asked. "Probably 1-2 weeks." She said. I sighed. "Seriously?!" "Look, I know things like this are very stressing. Listen, I'll talk to the court and ask them for an earlier time. If i can do so, I'll give you a call." She smiled. "Ok, thankyou." Ross said, shaking her hand.
