- Riff Acoustica POV -

"I'll be back later, Nova." I called as I left the library. While we were here, I at least wanted to get a look at what the culture and atmosphere was like. I'd be moving out of Trottingham soon anyway, somewhere closer to Las Pegasus and Applewood, so it could be useful scoping out the real estate. An orange filly with pink hair sped towards me on a scooter. I slowed down as she approached me, getting ready to jump out of the way. Just as she was about to barge into me, she skidded to a halt.

"Oh my Celestia!" She cried. I winced at the pitch. "You're Riff! The guitarist for 'Frantic Gallop'!" I nodded humbly, flashing her my cutie mark. "I love your band man! Can you, uh..." She shook her hair into her face. "Could you sign my scooter?"

I laughed. "Sure thing, kid." I whipped out the handy quill I kept in the fold of my neckscarf and levitated them both, signing my name with a swish. I returned the quill to my neckscarf and the scooter to the ground.

She grinned madly. "Thanks Riff!"

"Hey, no problems, kid. You've got a great taste in music, and you're pretty champ on that scooter!" She blushed, hiding under her short hair. "What's your name?"

"Scootaloo." She grinned again. "I cant believe I'm meeting you! I have to tell Rainbow Dash!" She hopped on the scooter and zoomed away, leaving me walking through the town alone again. Just as I was taking a rest under a tree, a pony started looking at me funny. I couldn't see her; she stood under a tree herself.

"Hey Big Mac!" She called at me, walking out from under the tree. She flicked her golden mane from her face, her green eyes sparkling in the sunlight. I was mesmerised as she approached me, calling me 'Big Mac'.  Eventually she stopped, just short of the line of shadow.

"Oh, you're not Big Mac." She tipped her head to the side; she had freckles on the sides of her head. "Wait, I aint seen y'all around these parts before. Are you new? Or just shy?"

I shook my head. "I'm new, but I'm only here while my sister waits for someone to come back from a trip to talk to her."

The pony smiled at me, holding out one hoof. "Well ah'm Applejack. What's your name?"

I stood up and took her hoof. "Riff Acoustica, but you can call me Riff."

She tipped her head to the side again. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't adorable. "Hold up there. My sister Apple Bloom is always chattin' with her friend Scootaloo about some 'Riff Acoustica'. Aint you in a band or summit?"

I nodded, stepping back into the shadow. "Yes, I'm in the band 'Frantic Gallop'." I glowered at her playfully. "We are vampire-ponies who like to feast on the blood of young fillies..."

She laughed. Success! I thought to myself. "Well aint you just a bundle of funny! We need more stallions like you around these parts." I smiled. "Hey, want me to introduce y'all to some o' my friends? I'm sure they'll love ya."

I nodded. "That sounds cool!" Knowing a few people would be good if I moved here. Right now, it seemed like a great option: great ponies; great scenery; Applejack...

She smiled. "Come along now, I'll take y'all to see some ponies." We began walking. I was overly conscious of our sides rubbing together while we walked. I wondered if she noticed. "Where ah y'all from, anyhow? That aint an accent I'd forget easy."

"Trottingham. Its quite a long journey to get there."

She nodded. "Yeah, ah've heard of it. Never been there though. Maybe one day ah will." I smiled to myself. Maybe she would.
