- Novella Quill POV -

"Nova..." A voice stirred me from sleep. "Nova, we're nearly here." I fluttered my eyes open to see Riff leaning over me.

I stretched. "How long was I asleep?"

He laughed lightly. "Just over five hours. Who knew it was such a long way from Trottingham to Ponyville?"

I yawned. "Did you say we were nearly there?"

He nodded. "Why did you want us to come here anyway? It's not like you know anyone, and we're closer to Canterlot too."

I sighed. "Twilight Sparkle." He tipped his head. "Well, you know about two years back, when that filly randomly became a princess?" He nodded. "Well, she was from Ponyville. I researched; she used to be a unicorn, but a spell turned her into an Alicorn, and now she's a princess. I just need to talk to her and find out what I'm supposed to do about...these." I gestured to my cape.

He nodded. "So how do we find this Twilight Sparkle?"

"She lives in the library." The train pulled up to the station. I pulled my hood up over my mane with my horn, and rushed from the train, trying not to even twitch my wings. I rushed away from Riff, searching every building. Eventually we arrived at a building carved into a tree. I hastily knocked on the door, straightening my cape.

Riff reached me just before the door opened. A teenage green and purple dragon stood at the door, rubbing his eyes. He looked at each of us in turn, his face questioning.

"Can I help you?"

I shrugged my hood off. "We're looking for Twilight Sparkle. It's urgent." My accent sounded strange compared to his.

"She's away on royal business. You can leave a message with me-"

I sobbed once, looking at Riff. He nodded at me, then turned to the dragon. "It is crucial that we speak to her ourselves. When will she be back?"

He scratched the scales on his head. "A few days, probably."

Riff thought for a moment. "Thats fine. Is there anywhere in town we can stay? Anywhere with privacy?"

The dragon thought for a moment, then sighed. "You can stay here until she gets back." He stepped aside to let us in. We walked through the door. "I'm Spike by the way. Make yourselves comfortable." I wasnt listening - I was too stricken by the walls. Shelves and shelves of books of every size and colour.  This was definitely the place I wanted to be.
