- [ Applejack POV] -

"Did y'all notice Rainbow actin' kinda funny?" I asked Riff when Rainbow Dash flew over to the DJ corner. She was talking and laughing with Vinyl Scratch like they were best friends. What struck me was that they had next to nothing in common. Dashie likes rock music and Vinyl likes wubs. Dashie was a fast flyer and Vinyl took life easy. They both liked music, I guess.

Riff shook his head. "She seemed as frantic as ever to me. Why, what's bothering you?"

I shook my head. "Nothin'. It's just that Dash and Vinyl aren't two ponies ah'd pin together as friends, thats all." Riff smirked at me, and I knew what he was going to say. "Ah'm not jealous, ya hear! Ah'm just...confused."

He put his hoof on my shoulder and smiled. "Well, why dont we try to have some fun while we're here. Look, there's some drinks over there." He he walked me over to some of Pinkie's cocktails.

I shook my head. "Uh uh. Those're Pinkie drinks. Dont y'all ever touch em. You'll-" I was cut off by his unicorn magic shoving some of the golden cocktail down my throat. I coughed and felt the secret ingredient go straight to my head. I swayed into Riff as I heard a loud crash.

"Woah, you're a serious lightweight, you know that?"

"Pfft, ah'm not. Are y'all movin' or is it just the room..?"

Riff frowned. "Do you need to sit down?"

I shook my head and started walking towards the door. It had a huge hole in it, and for some reason that amused me. When I pushed through the door, I noticed some other pony had beat me outside. When my eyes adjusted to the light, I recognised her as Rainbow Dash.

"Dashie!" I shouted, staggering over to her. I collapsed on the floor next to her and rolled onto my back. "What're ya doin' out here? The party's inside!"

She groaned and sat up, looking down at me. "I dont feel so good, so I came outside to cool off." She gave me a questioning look. "If the party is so good, then why are you outside?"

"Ah got bored. And drank one of Pinkie's drinkies." I hiccuped then giggled softly. Dashie looked at me with an unusual expression, then laid down next to me, her head close to mine. We laid for a moment, staring at the starry sky, until Dashie broke the tension.

"I only brought V tonight to make you jealous. Luckily Octavia was out of town, or I'd be here alone." She sighed. "Why didn't you tell me that you and Riff were a thing?"

I shrugged. "Because we're not. Ah like Riff as a friend an' all but he just aint the right stallion for me." I took a deep breath. "Ah dont even know if stallions are my type." I gasped, wondering where that had come from, then rolled away and stood up. I regretted it instantly, and fell onto Dashie.

She smiled hopefully. "Do you mean that you like mares?" I blushed; she blushed. For a moment we stared at each other, then pulled each other up and ran as fast as we could to Sweet Apple Acres.
