- Novella Quill POV -

I settled down on the library floor with a book titled 'Elements Of Harmony'. That afternoon, I'd been scouring through every book in the library, determined to make the most of being there.

I shrugged off my cape; Spike had gone out and said he wouldnt be back for a while. I flipped open the book with my horn and started reading. A while later, I'd reached the last page. I'd been fascinated about the Elements and their powers, and why they were used.

I stood up to put the book back, but couldnt find the ladder, and my horn was too tired from turning pages to do a levitation spell. Tentatively, I unfolded my wings and flapped them, finding myself in the air. Once I'd returned the book the the shelf, I lowered myself to the ground, and turned to the door.

"Y-You're an alicorn?"

"Spike!" I hurried to pull my cape back over my wings, but it was too late. He was home before I'd assumed, and now he knew I was an alicorn. I slumped down to the floor and hid my face. "Please dont turn me in to the Monks!"

He approached me slowly. "Who?"

I looked up. He stood about a metre away from me, looking at me in awe. I sat up slowly. "The Monks." He raised an eyebrow. "Back in Trottingham, a group of unicorns called The Monks chased me, trying to reveal me as an alicorn. I believe they meant harm, but I never stopped to find out."

"Well, we dont have any Monks here." He stepped forward; I scurried back. It was like a dance. "Is this why you wanted to talk to Twilight?" I nodded. "Why didnt you tell us you were an alicorn?"

I shrugged. "I thought you'd do what The Monks did."

He stepped forward again. This time I didnt retreat. "You've got nothing to fear here. Being an alicorn is a good thing. It means you're a princess." He looked confused. "How did you even become an alicorn? Its a very complicated spell."

I shrugged again. "I was doing a simple transfiguration spell when - poof - I had wings."

Spike stumbled over to a table, where a quill and piece of parchment lay. He started scribbling. Once he was done, he breathed fire over it and it vanished.

"I just wrote to Twilight. When she and Princess Celestia read the letter, I'm sure they'll come and see what they can do for you."

I sighed a breath of relief. Finally, things were looking up.

"Will you be alright here tonight? Pinkie Pie is throwing a party at Sweet Apple Acres, and nobody misses a Pinkie Pie party."

I nodded. "Sure. I'll read some more." Spike started walking away. "Spike? If you see Riff, can you tell him that everything will be fine." Spike nodded and left, closing the door and leaving me alone in the library once more.
