- Rainbow Dash POV -

"Rainbow! Braeburn! Come over here!" I peered over my sunglasses at Applejack, expecting her to show me something cool, but found she was hunched over a teary Applebloom. Her hind leg was bent in a way that looked to me like a break, but I couldnt tell from the sun lounger.

"Aw, cuz!" Braeburn shouted from beside me, bounding over to them. I stretched and cantered over, my head pounding.

"A-A-Ah th-think it's b-b-br-broke-e-en..." Applebloom sobbed. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo had climbed carefully down from the hay-bales, and looked on concernedly. Her leg did not look cool.

"Come on, Applejack." I said, helping Braeburn carry Applebloom. "We need to get her to a doctor." AJ followed us as we carried - extremely inefficiently - to the hospital, with a sort of stunned expression on her face.

"Is Applebloom gonna be okay?" Sweetie Belle asked mildly, peering at AJ.

I rolled my eyes. "You two dont need to be here. Why dont you go wander around for a while, maybe see if you can find something to do." They looked at each other. Applebloom was probably their leader, so they had no idea what to do without her. "I know," I said finally, hovering above them. "You need to go and find Pinkie Pie. She's planning a party for this strapping young stallion," I gestured with my head at Braeburn. "And probably needs some help." They looked dubious. "You might get a party-planning cutie mark-"

"Oh my gosh we might!" Sweetie Belle said excitedly. "Come on Scootaloo! We can fangirl over Rainbow Dash later..."

"Bye Rainbow Daaaaash!" Scootaloo cried as she was dragged away. I turned back to Braeburn, who had carried Applebloom a little further, and hurried over to help.

Soon enough, we'd reached the hospital. As Applebloom was carted away to be checked, Braeburn had headed off to find snacks - dragging a teenage filly across Ponyville turned out to be a lot more difficult than it had first seemed. AJ and I sat on some chairs in the waiting room, listening to the steady ticking of the clock. Eventually I turned to her, asking what had been bugging me all day.

"Hey AJ," I ventured. She turned to me, her face anxious. "I was just wondering..."

"Yeah?"

"How did I end up in your bed last night?" There was a moment of silence.

AJ looked away awkwardly. "Y'all just got real drunk, thats all. Ah helped ya up to ma room to make sure ya were okay." She looked back at me. "Ya are okay, aren'cha?"

I nodded quickly. "I'm not dead, so that's cool."

A pretty nurse came into the waiting room. "Uh..." She looked at her clipboard. "Applejack?" AJ sat up straight, holding up her hoof. "Are you here with Applebloom?"

"Ah sure am. How is she?"

The nurse trotted over, a neutral expression on her face. "Her hind leg is sprained. We're going to set it and put in in a cast, then she'll be here for a few days to recover. You can come and see her soon, but right now the doctor is tending to her." The nurse walked away, and AJ slumped back onto the chair. I instinctively put my hoof on her shoulder comfortingly.

"I'm sure you'll be able to see her soon-"

"Applejack!" A stallion shouted breathlessly. We turned to see - da da da - Riff Acoustica, the one and only most annoying pony, stood in the doorway. As he trotted over to us, I tried to keep myself from charging over and kicking him in his smug, arrogant face-

"Hey Applejack. Can we go outside and talk for a minute?"
