- Novella Quill POV -
"Your majesties." I bowed, banging my horn on the floor in the process.
"Please, Novella, there is no need for you to bow." I rose. "I am Princess Cadence, and I have heard great things about you from Princess Twilight Sparkle." I nodded humbly - Twilight had been testing my magic all morning. We'd been through levitation, transfiguration, and teleportation, and Twilight had been visibly impressed. "This is my husband, Shining Armor." The white stallion with a blue mane nodded his head at me.
"Babababa..." I turned at the sound of a baby, and saw a tiny pink filly toddle in, her curly yellow and purple mane bouncing behind her. She grinned at me, her blue eyes wide. She opened her wings and flapped over to Princess Cadence.
Shining Armor laughed lightly. "That's our daughter, Skyla."
Twilight stepped to my side. "Feel free to make yourselves comfortable."
"Thank you, Twilight." Cadence nudged Skyla towards the door, and with that, they were gone. I slumped against the floor. Twilight smirked and approached me.
"You okay?"
I nodded. "I'm just not used to all this...formality."
She sat down beside me. "I know what you mean. When I first became a princess, I wasnt sure how to act either. But you'll get used to it, I promise." She stood up and walked through the door Cadence and the others had, leaving me alone.
A few moments later, Flash entered through the front door, looking around. He walked over when he saw me.
"Have you seen Twilight?" I shook my head soundlessly - I didnt know why, because I'd just seen Twilight only moments ago. Something in me had tensed up, like I was being possessed by some greater force. He sat down in front of me, shaking his mane out of his face. I subdued a sigh.
"Figures. The one time I actually want to see her she isnt here." I cocked my head questioningly - his tone was implying that he didnt really want to be with her. "I dont mean to dump my personal problems on you, but Twilight and I arent getting along very well at the moment."
"Aren't you getting married?"
He shrugged. "It was arranged." The silence dragged on, in which I sneaked glances at Flash - each time he caught me, but it was worth it. Just to see his ruffled blue mane and dazzling blue eyes - what was I doing? He was engaged to the princess! I really needed some fresh air.
"I, uh," I stumbled to my feet. "I need some air." I dashed out of the library as fast as I could - and found myself muzzle-to-muzzle with a bright pink pony. Her eyes widened when she saw me, and further when she saw my wings.
"Uh...." I scrabbled for words but found nothing, and ended up winging to the top of the library, and taking a seat on the balcony. "Oh, Nova," I said to myself as I sat. "What have you gotten yourself into this time..."
