It took hours of thinking through the decision. Even the younglings in her classes could tell that Ranah was distracted. She was afraid to go seek medical assistance. Her past experiences in hospitals alone were enough to drive her far away from them. When she finally made her choice she wasted no time heading to speak with Padmè. Normally she'd confide in Anakin or Obi-Wan, but they were both gone and she was beyond frightened.

When she arrived at her acquaintance's place of residence it took lots of pacing before Ranah sat down. "It's alright. You can talk to me." The Senator smiled patiently. "I'm worried I may be ill." She replied simply. "Then you should see a Doctor." Padmè suggested obviously. "No, no doctors." The Jedi refused. "Alright then. What are your symptoms?" She tried again. "Dizziness, nausea, hot flashes. I think it might be because of a dream." Ranah attempted to reason. "Are you pregnant?" Padmè asked, slightly shocked. The redhead could have sworn she felt her heart stop, come to a complete stand still.

Pregnant? Did those words really just leave Padmè's lips?

She remained quiet.

"Well when I was about two months along I started experiencing the same sorts of things you were."

Pregnant? This couldn't be happening. She wasn't pregnant, there was no way.

Ranah wanted to deny it, but the more she contemplated it the more probable it seemed. She was speechless. Deep down she knew it was true perhaps the force guided her suspicions to the correct answer. "You're pregnant? Anakin is going to be father?" She tried to sway the subject from her. Padmè was the sweetest woman, but she would not deal with the other girl's distractions. "Yes, but more importantly what are you going to do?" She inquired. "Not tell the Council. That's for sure." Padmè frowned "That's exactly what you must do. I know how much your work means to you so I would never suggest you put your position of jeopardy.  Regardless of it's true or not tell them it was by the will of the force. That's how it was with Ani's mother." she said.

Anakin's mother wasn't a Jedi.

Ranah shifted uncomfortably. "I suppose you're right." she said reluctantly. "If you don't mind me asking, who is the father?" Padmè questioned politely. A layer of silence hung over them. Padmè deserved to know. Someone needed to know the truth. What if her fiancè never returned from a mission? "Obi-Wan." she muttered, disturbing the quiet. The Senator paused, "You and Obi-Wan are married? For how long?" the young woman was taken off guard. "Not married, but engaged. For a few years actually. We plan on having the wedding when the war ends." She smiled sheepishly. Despite the worrisome tone surrounding them, Obi-Wan still brought a smile to her face.  "And you're scared because he's gone. You feel unsure?" she guessed, the Jedi nodded. "Fear is not the Jedi way." Padmè repeated, from the billion times she had probably heard it. Ranah chuckled. "Well neither is getting engaged and starting a family."
-
"You seem tense Zahar, what's troubling you?"

"I'm carrying my Fiancè's baby." or perhaps she could go with "I'm breaking the Jedi code, again. Forgive me please?"

Ranah grew more anxious as the time ticked by, but eventually it was time for her to enter the Council chambers.

Don't screw up.

"I speak before you today to announce, that I am pregnant." she swallowed a lump in her throat. Master Windu looked up "Who's the father?" Ranah shook her head "There isn't one. I believe it was the will of the force." she answered. Mace wasn't having it "Midi chlorians do not create life out of nowhere, Miss Zahar. Someone must force them to act in that way." he continued. The redhead's patience was growing thin "I do believe there's a Sith out there by the name of Count Dooku. I heard he has quite the beef with me." she countered. "A point, she has. Apart from an incident of misguidance, remained loyal to the Order Zahar has. Trust her word, we should. Grant a pregnant woman respect, we should." Yoda announced. Ranah bowed and left another successful discussion with the Council. At least she wouldn't have to deal with the issue of hiding her pregnancy.

-
Ranah lay in bed, trying to rest. Being pregnant was awful, she felt like throwing up every ten seconds. It was early afternoon, the sun was bright, it gave the Jedi a headache. With a groan she sat up, resting her head in her hands. The apartment door opened, she cautiously stood up and headed towards the door. "Obi-Wan? Since when are you home?" she grinned and began walking towards him faster, expecting a hug at least. "Since when are you Pregnant?" he retorted. Ranah stopped walking. "What?"

How did he find out already?

"Why are you telling people you're pregnant?" he repeated. "Because I am?" "And you thought to tell the entire Council before me?" Obi-Wan scoffed. "Darling it's not like that. Please let me explain." she said. The male gestured for her to go on. "I didn't know what to do. I was terrified Obi-Wan. I was sick and by myself. I didn't know what to do so I went to Padmè and she convinced me to notify the council. Sweetheart, you have to understand-" Obi-Wan cut her off. "Understand what Ranah? That you told Padmè about us and our baby? That you lied to the Council? It seems everyone knows, but me and I'm the father! I am very seldom angry, but we're having a child and you don't think to tell me first?" he fumed. Ranah took two steps back and threw her arms up in exasperation. "I'm trying to protect you! I would never jeopardize your spot on the council or your position as a Jedi! I had to go about this like I truly am pregnant by the will of the force! How dare you treat me like this! This is supposed to be a happy moment Obi-Wan!" she huffed. "Dear, I am happy just frustrated." Obi-Wan attempted to explain. "I don't want to hear it from you! How am I going to trust you to be a father to this baby if I don't even know that you trust me, your fiancè?" she demanded.

"Because we love each other!"

"Then start acting like it."

Ranah started for the door.

"Where are you going?"

"Ask me again when you're ready to be supportive."

The door slammed shut.
