Glimmer: A Hunger Games Fanfic
Chapter 10
It was the third day of training, when they started to call us out of lunch to do a private session with the Gamemakers. Luckily District One was the first to be called in so I didn't have to wait for my lunch afterwards.
I stepped in the training room with a smirk on my face. The Gamemakers stopped with their socializing as I entered the room. They were all sitting in a balacony with colored drink in their hand.
After dinner last night, I was in my room when Cashmere came barging in as I was putting on some grey sweats.
"Yes?" I asked, while sitting down on the bed. I clearly made it clear that I was annoyed that she came in. All I wanted was some privacy in 'my' own room.
She dismissed the tone in my voice,"We need you to do something when you're in your private training time with the Gamemakers."
"We?" I asked.
"As in me and our district." I perked up when she said 'district.' I would do anything for them. Cashmere saw my interest and sat down on my bed. "I thought of a strategy for you to get more training points tomorrow." Higher training points equal more chances for sponsors. I was all in.
"What do I have to do?' I asked, curiosity peeking through my voice.
I stood in front of the Gamemakers with a seductive pose. I draped my right shoulder down and popped my left knee. I pouted my lips and lift my chin a little high. I dropped my voice and slowly introduced myself, "Glimmer Lavenderhill. District 1." All eyes were on me. They couldn't stop looking at me. So this is how Ivory felt when guys looked at her. A feeling of someone wanting me tingled down my body. I felt powerful to be in the center of attention. I did have a bad feeling in my stomach but I dismissed it right away.
I swayed over to the weapon rack and chose flame-blade sword. This was somewhat my specialty but I wanted to do it anyway. I walked over to the reflex room and clicked the green button by it's door. Screens came in front of the Gamemakers and the doors opened. I stepping inside the room and started my journey through it. The door closed quickly after I entered in.
I placed both of my hands on the saber and waited for the first obstacle. Few holographic dummies came after me quickly and I ran the sword through them before I even thought about it. Two more came charging on both of my sides. I did a quick walk-over and hit both of the dummies with one stroke. This happened for a few minutes until one dummy came up from behind me and put it's hands around my throat. I cursed. A huge beep went through the room and the door opened. I walked out and smirked anyway. The Gamemakers clapped politely as I came out.
"Anything else you want to show us?" One of them asked.
"If you have a request, I would love to do it." I say, going back to my pose I did earlier.
One of them smirked and looked at his colleagues. The looked at him with approval in return. The guy cleared his throat. "Take off your clothes."
My eyes widen, "Say that again?"
The men laughed and the guy who asked me the repulsive question smirked," I said, take off your clothes."
I lost my pose and put weight on both of my feet. I crossed my arms, "If I don't?"
"We'll take points off of your score. Right now, we were going to give you a 11."
Terror went through me. They were going to take off points if I didn't flash them? Those disgusting pigs. I felt so humiliated. This plan Cashmere thought of was just horrible. I felt disrespected and gross. How could I ever think that it felt good to do such a thing. "Fine, then." I say. I threw the sword on the ground and stormed out of the room. I slammed the doors opened and Marvel, who was waiting to go in, looked up at me, startled. I gave him a glare and walked to our floor.
I quickly got into the shower, not even stopping to take off my clothes. I wanted to get rid of the feeling that went through my body. I felt disgusted. I never want to be in that room with those men ever again. I felt used.
I heard my room's door slam and Cashmere angrily ripped the curtain to the shower open. "What the hell did you do?"
"They told me to take off my clothes." I say, defending myself.
"I know! Why didn't you? They took off points of your score!"
"So?" I shouted back. "I'm not some play toy."
"Do you know what you just did?" Cashmere looked like she was about to rip my face off. "You threw some kind of chance you had for you to get sponsors. Ever thought of your district?"
Those words felt like a slap to my face. No I didn't think of my district. All I could think about was my dignity and respect for myself. Cashmere saw that she hit a homerun," If they ask you again. Do not refuse. Got it?"
I just nodded. When she left my room, I banged on the shower wall as my tears mixed with the water pouring out of the showerhead. I never felt so conflicted.
That night I watched as both Marvel and I got nines. I thought my night couldn't get any worse until District's 12 scores came on the screen. A eleven flashed in front of my face. I quickly got up from the couch and went to my clarity.
"Where are you going?" Annette said behind me.
I didn't even look back as I replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "The greenhouse."
