Chapter 19

Right before I was going to let the arrow fly, I noticed that Katniss was ninety feet up in the tree. I was never going to get her from standing on the ground. I stapped the bow onto my back and started to climb. Katniss look at me with bemusement and with a dash of anger. I wonder what I did to tick her off. I saw her eyes dart to the arrows with a eager interest. She needed them. She needs these to win. I smiled at the thought that my possession was making her bitter. Good.

Once I was a good shooting distance, I placed my weight on the branch and took off the bow from my back. I placed an arrow in, pulled back, aimed at her heart, and let the arrow fly in the air.  But standing awkwardly on the branches made my aim impossible to hit its target.  Katniss watched the arrow fly by her head and saw it plunged in the tree's bark. She grabbed the arrow and waved it in the air with a smug face. I glared at her and retreated down with annoyance. There was no way I could hit her. I really wished I grabbed something else than this stupid bow.  It was unintelligent of me to grab them in the first place.

"Nice going, Miss Slut," Clove snarled.

Anger shot through my viens like an uncontrollable wild fire. "At least I tried unlike you," I retorted.

"I'm not afraid to kill you now," Clove threatens as she takes out one of her daggers.

"Bring it!" I pushed her back. She glared and pushes me back.  Right before I threw a punch at her nose, Marvel grabbed my arm and Cato grabbed Clove's.

"Girls," Cato said, "Save spilling each other's blood after we kill the one we are mostly after."

I glared into Clove's dark eyes as I nodded and yanked my arm out of Marvel's hands. Clove nodded as well, not taking her eyes off of me.

"How are we going go kill her?" Marvel asks.

"She's too high in the tree for us to actually get a good hit." Cato inputs.

"We can climb the tree next to her and when we get to her level, we kill her?" Clove said.

I shook my head,"She'll climb higher when she one us coming. Plus the branches won't hold any of us."

For the next couple of hours we quarrled on ideas on how to murder the girl above us. I was almost about to kill everyone and go against my plans.

"Oh just let her stay up there!" Peeta says harshly. We all shut up and stared at him. He hasnt said a word since we started fighting. "It's not like she's going anywhere. We'll deal with her in the morning."

He was right and everyone knew it. We made plans of eating some of the dried meat and apples and making camp. I volunteered to stay up and keep watch.

"How do I know you're not going to kill us in our sleep?" Clove questions me.

"On how much I would enjoy that, I would like to have an honest fight. It's more fun that way."

She seemed satisfied with my answer and walked away gulping some water from a canteen.

There was only two reasons I didnt want to sleep and it was because I was afraid my sister would enter my dreams and I didnt want Katniss to slip away while any of us slept. No one spoke for the rest of the night which made me happy. As everyone slept, I grabbed a stick from the forrest floor and started to scrap its end with a sharp rock. It kept my mind from going insane. As the night wore on, my eyes started to droop. I fought to keep them open but fatigue won over and I fell asleep on the trunk of a tree. What happened next was one of my most awful experiences.

----

I woke up with a jolt of pain.  It felt like it was a sharp pinch and my skin felt like it was set on fire. Angry buzzing noises filled the tiny forrest.

'Trackerjackers,' I thought. My eyes flew open and all around me the tiny captiol-made wasps flew. Panic started to creep up my throat as I screamed. Everyone woke up with a start. Once they registered on what was happening they started to run.

I couldnt run like they did. I just stood there like a manic as the wasps attacked my skin. The pain was unbearable. I screamed for help but no came back. I was alone. So this is how I'm going to die. I wanted to laugh and cry. I kept thinking on how I was a dishonor for my district and sister. I felt like I deserved to die. To die alone as these killer bees stung my body with their poisoned stingers.

My vision started to blackout and the last thing I thought before being pulled under was my sister's face.

------

Behind my eyelids, I could see a bright light being flashed in front of me. Groggily I opened my eyes to see it was a medical lamp.

'Where am I?' I thought as I searched the room.

I looked in the corner and a shadow of a person standing against the wall. Once they saw I was awake, they came over to me. As she crept closer, her figure started to look familiar.

It cant be.

She looks so beautiful and alive.

"Am I in heaven?" I asked. My throat felt dry as if it was sandpaper. I coughed trying to ease the scratching. Was that suppose to happen in heaven?

"Glim,if I tell you where you are, please don't freak out," Ivory says. I nodded.

"You're not heaven. You're in district thirteen."

She couldn't be serious. District thirteen was bombed. I laughed," Yeah right."

"No I'm serious." She says and then lifts her shirt up. A little slit by her heart was healing and was becoming more of a scar.

It started to dawn on me and my heart started to panic. I was alive. I was in district thirteen.

And my sister was alive.
