Glimmer: A Hunger Games Fanfic
Chapter 12
"Glimmer?" Xavier says as he comes closer to give me a hug. "Are you alright?"
Fear trickled down my body once my brain took in what he said before my attacker ran off. 'Too bad, she's already taken tonight. Too bad, she's already taken tonight.' I held my hand out in warning. "Don-don't come an-any closer."
Confusion crept into his eyes as he stopped walking. "What do you mean?"
'Have you been just coddling me this whole time so you just can get into my pants?"
"Glimmer, what the he-"
"No!" I cry out," I don't want to hear your explanation. You're just like everyone else here in the Capitol."
"What do you mean by that?" He asks angrily.
"You just want to use all the districts for your own personal gain. It doesn't matter if you hurt them in the process."
"Glimmer," Xavier says," you just got assaulted. You're not thinking straight."
"I'm thinking perfectly clear," I sneer. " You know, I thought I could trust you. You didn't seem like all of the other Capitol people."
"And I'm not!" Xavier counters back.
"Then why did you say 'too bad, she's already taken tonight?" I say as tears started to fall down my face.
"Because I wanted to save you."
I scoffed,"Yeah right."
With that I turned around trembling, running down the hallway back to the rooms. I slowed down my pace when I thought I had a good distance away from the Greenhouse. I tried to calm down so no one in my floor could see that I had been crying.
How could Xavier do this to me? Yes, we have known each other for less than a week but I poured my soul out to the guy. I didn't even do that with Aqua back home. Look what it did to me though. It could have gotten me raped. I shuddered at the possibility.
I quickly opened the door to the the district's room and I dashed across the hardwood floor to the sanctuary I have left until tomorrow. I closed the door behind me and broke down in sobs. I never realized how much tears a human can produce at once. It's quite terrifying in a way.

"You are strong."Cashmere says.
"I am strong," I repeat after her. I have my eyes closed, trying to get into the zone. It was less than 5 minutes until the games will start and I was feeling anxious. I just wanted to get in and out. Get everything done with so I could go home. I blocked everything else from my mind. I only pictured me with a crown on my head as I stand in the midst of my family hugging me and the Capitol screaming out my name in triumph.
"You are quick."
"I am quick."
"You are smart."
"I am smart."
"You will win."
"I will win."
"No one can stand in your way."
"No one can stand in my way."
"You're better than anyone else in that arena."
"I'm better than anyone in the arena."
Over the intercom a voice announced that we had less than a minute to get into the tubes. My palms started to get sweaty as I glanced at the tubes. This was my chance to show everyone of what I'm made of. I could die in here or be the only one who comes out alive. I rather much be the one alive. I already had my strategy for killing the people who I called allies. This was my chance to bring glory to my district's name. But most importantly, winning for Ivory.
"Remember what our district's motto is." Cashmere says her final words to me.
"Glory, strength, and wit are the sole keys to your victory," I recited. I've known that motto since I could speak. Just saying the words brought more strength than it knows. Cashmere didn't have to say anything more.
I tried to keep my mind off of what happened this past week and tried imagining that those 'things' never happened to me. It kept me from breaking down to a million pieces.
I straighten the unflattering raincoat, that the Capitol provided, and stepped into the tube. The door shut quickly after I stepped in. Startled I looked at Cashmere but she was already gone out of the room. I squared my shoulders as the platform started to rise. Adrenaline started to creep up my legs as the sight of the arena came to view. It was breath taking. Who knew something so beautiful could be a death place.
All the tributes were rising up into a circle in a grassy clearing. A lake was on my right and the Cornucopia stood proud on my left. Around the clearing was trees, far as my eye could see. This was the perfect arena setting.
I looked at the other tributes as the timer started to count down from sixty. Most of the tributes had fear plastered on their faces and as the time escalated their faces were starting to turn into a pale blue. I ignored them and looked at the cornucopia to find some weapons. I saw that a malice was closer to me. Light reflecting from its shining metal, asking for it to have blood dripping from its points.
