i made my way to the cafeteria quickly. With the day i'd been having, i wouldn't be surprised if a meteor fell from the sky and headed right towards me. I was honestly baffled that one person could be caused so much unhappiness within the first three classes at school. Halfway done, i thought, looking on the bright side.  At least you only have three classes left. I smiled a little to myself, partly because of that thought, and partly because i had safely made it to the cafeteria without being hit by a meteor, or anything else.

I scanned the room  for Aubrey, Shay, and Bailey. No luck. They had probably gone to their lockers first to put their stuff away. I, on the other hand, didn't want to risk anything by taking an unnecessary detour to my locker, so i was still holding my books and pens. Sure i probably looked like a nerd, and yeah, maybe it was getting a bit heavy, but at least i got here safely. That's all that matters.

Seeing as my friends were nowhere to be seen, i decided to get my food first, so i wouldn't have to sit alone. I headed for the freakin' enormous food line (seriously, it went all the way to the wall, and curved around) and  waited, leaning against the wall. I was really regretting not putting my books in my locker, they were uncomfortable, and heavy. Not to mention it was going to be hard to hold my food tray with them. I sighed and turned to the girl next to me, she looked like she was twelve, so i assumed she was a freshman. No way in heck were there any sophomores that were that tiny.

"Hey do you think you can hold my spot for just a second? I'll literally be gone for less than a minute." I smiled at her. She was definitely shy, because when she answered, i could barely hear her quite voice.

"Sure." She said smiling and nodding.

"Thanks!" i said, walking away to an empty table. There were plenty of free tables, which didn't surprise me, since half the school was in the freaking lunch line. I just chose a random table, with five chairs-just so my friends and i wouldn't  be squished- and plopped my books down. I also took my sweatshirt off, and hung it over the chair, so people would know that the table was occupied. I smiled to myself at my cleverness, and walked back to my place in line.

At least the line was moving quickly, because it took me a few seconds to relocate the freshman girl holding my spot. She had moved up about ten-feet. I walked over to her, thanked her again, and retook my place in line. The guy behind me, who i hadn't even glanced at before cleared his throat in a meaningful way. I looked right and left, then hestitantly toward him. Did he need something from me?

I recognized him from my math class. He sat in the middle of the classroom, and always payed attention. He was cute, with his short dirty blond hair going in all direction, and his friendly looking face. Also, up until this moment, i hadn't realized what a giant the kid was. Sure, he was thin and muscular, but he was also a head and a half taller than my five-foot eight inches. If i had to guess, i'd say he was maybe, six-foot seven.

My eyes traveled all the way up to his face. I looked at him dubliously, waiting for him to say something. After a few seconds, he finally did.

"Did you just cut me?" He said with a deadly serious voice. Wow, what were were five-years old? Did he seriously just accuse me of "cutting" him? I restrained myself from snorting, even though i really wanted to, and replied calmly.

"Nooo," i said dragging the word out, in an are-you-crazy tone. "I was here like thirty seconds ago. You saw me standing in front of you."

"Well, did i give you permission to come back in front of me? I don't think so." He said, eyes boring into mine. I gaped at him, looking as him with a look of angry disbelief.

"Seriously? What do you want me to do? Go to the back of the line? Because there is no way in heck that's going to happen. Oh, i know maybe i can back cut you, since we're using third grade vocabulary here." I snapped. Man, when i get mad i'm sure as heck not shy, i thought. At this rate, i wasn't going to survive till last period. I was tempted to turn around a check for an "annoy me" sign taped on my back, but i knew that there would be nothing there. No, people were just annoying me by their own choice.
