Chapter Five
✯
I remained seated against one of the walls in the Salvatore house, twirling my right index finger, levitating a paper airplane to appear as if it was actually flying.
"Is Valerie here?" Lily entered the room, startling me, causing my paper airplane to fall.
"I heard her leave earlier..I guess torture makes her hungry." I dryly spoke, my mouth forming a straight line.
"Forgive me for prying, but I remember you saying you loved that witch boy? The one that my family and I met in the prison world-" Lily began,
"I just spent the entire day listening to one of your heretic's love stories while I flew paper airplanes around my sister's ex-boyfriend's bedroom." I interrupted, narrowing my eyes. "I really don't feel like talking about the dead love of my life with my hostage taker, but thanks anyway."
I lifted my finger, flying the airplane once more.
"I was simply curious about one's ability to heal after such a loss." Lily avowed, as she turned around to leave.
I let out a sigh, dropping the airplane. "You've been in love before, right?" I erupted.
Lily stopped in her tracks.
"I mean, even Katherine Pierce had been in love at some point.." I added, narrowing my eyes.
"Of course I've been in love." Lily confirmed, turning around with a faint smile.
"Then you know that love is different than any other feeling." I chirped, lifting my head from its resting position as a light smile formed on my face. "Kai made me feel special. Nobody else understood our connection, except us. We understood each other. I loved him."
I cleared my throat, shaking my head. "Stefan wrote about you all the time, you know. Assuming that's what you were asking about.."
I got up from my position, Lily's eyes never leaving me as I stood upright and closed my eyes, muttering a quick incantation to reveal Stefan's diary. "Phasmatos Oculacs." I chanted.
I opened my eyes, causing Stefan's diary to appear on the desk beside her. "You can read it for yourself." I offered, grabbing the book, holding it out for her. "Read it. He loved you. He missed you, and I can guarantee you he thought of a million ways to try and get you back.."
Lily slowly took the diary from my hands.
"Nora, remove the barrier spell, please. As of this moment, Miss Gilbert is no longer a prisoner." Lily called out.
"Wha- is this one of those Regina George tricks?" I furrowed my eyebrows in astonishment.
"Who? No. It's a reward for Stefan's honesty." Lily clarified, shaking her head. "Go before I change my mind."
"But Elena-"
"Your sister will be returned eventually, but as of right now, you are free." Lily's eyes met mine, and I slowly nodded. "Go."
As I went to walk out of the room, I looked back at Lily, and a small genuine smile grew on my face before I vamp-sped out.
We'll get Elena back, but until then, I can help my friends.
✯
"Don't go." I croaked, as Caroline and Bonnie collecting some books from the dorm.
"We didn't want to wake you." Bonnie chuckled, sharing a smile with Caroline.
"Well, it's too late for that now." I avowed, sitting upright in Elena's old bed, patting the space next to me. "I've barely seen either one of you. Catch me up."
