Chapter Six

Three Years From Now:

"Don't worry, love. We'll figure this out.." Enzo reassured, squeezing my hand, giving it a kiss as I remained on the couch, snuggled in his arms with the guitar by our side.

"What if we don't?" I muttered.

"We will. There's obviously a reason this is happening.." Enzo rubbed my hand, his eyes never leaving me.

"Enzo." I paused, as my chest began to burn.

"What? What is it?" he questioned,

"Bucket..now." I grunted, holding my chest as he reached for the silver trashcan beside the couch.

He swiftly leaned over, handing it to me, where I immediately began puking up more blood.

Enzo sighed once I stopped.

My head fell back as I let out a puff of air, "What if this is happening because I escaped. What if this is all some distraction."

"You don't think.." Enzo started, his face growing concerned.

"They'll find us."

Present Day:

"Bonnie, I don't think I can do this.." I whined, as Alaric ripped the white sheet off of Jo's body.

I'm still not exactly sure what the flashes in my mind were, but I know they probably weren't good.

They never are.

"Hey," Bonnie grabbed my wrist. "I know you can."

"But it's my fault..it's all my fault." I whimpered as my eyes locked on Jo.

"No, it isn't. It's Kai's. I know you don't want to hear it, Cassidy, but it is his fault. You can't blame yourself for something you didn't do." Bonnie reassured.

My eyes remained on Jo before I let out a breath. "Okay."

Bonnie grabbed my hand, pulling me back over to the table where Jo's body remained.

She placed Jo's lifeless hand in my own, before she walked around the table and did the same.

Alaric stood back, watching.

"Ababbas dagoinet mateesah elunatan. Oshawas melunaweh washaset zagoedan." Bonnie and I chanted in unison, continuing the spell for a solid minute before Jo's eyes shot open.

It worked.

I made my way back to Whitmore, hoping to squeeze in some reading.

By reading, I mean, hopefully finding a solution to this stupid vervain-skin spell Valerie put on me. I took Bonnie's grimoire after we resurrected Jo, which is still completely blowing my mind.

There's gotta be a catch.

You can't just bring someone back to life without a catch. That's not how the laws of nature work.

I was currently sitting in the hallway outside my sister's old dorm-room, given that the door was locked, and I still don't have a key.

After a moment or so of searching, I found the skin-vervain spell that Valerie used on me.

It was essentially labeled as a repulsion spell, not a "Skin-Vervain Spell," nor was it actually intended to be used on people, but I suppose that's just how twisted the heretics are.
