I woke up to the sound of sand crunching. My eyes snapped open, but I stayed still and kept my breathing steady. I listened for any more noise and heard sand crunching, again. It sounded a lot like heavy footsteps. 'They’re getting closer too.' I thought. I glared to the opening of the cave and saw a shadow, slowly getting larger. 'From the shape.... It looks like a Menos.' I thought to myself, holding in an instinctive growl. I heard the all too familiar screech and nodded, knowing my assumption was correct. I stretched my tail out, the disks clicking lightly, barely a sound at all. I looked towards the entrance hearing the steps get louder and louder as it got closer. I jumped to my feet, the sand crunching under my weight. I cursed as I heard the Menos take a step back then one forward. ‘It must’ve heard me... shit!' I crouched down defensively, bracing myself for whatever it might do. Then I heard a loud scream, it echoed through the forest. The tree like cave I was resting in rattled, as a loud thud was heard. 'What is it doing...' I thought, hearing yet another thud, the Menos screeching afterwards.
'Wait… Is it attacking the tree... It must’ve sensed my reiatsu... I should’ve hidden it better!' I lectured myself, swaying my tail, it clicking much louder and in an extremely dangerous rhythm. I inched towards the entrance, taking a single step forward, my paw stretching out as it would on snow to prevent any noise. I then lowered my reiatsu hoping it would leave soon. 'I’d much rather go without a fight this early in the morning.' I thought, growling lowly. I watched the Menos take a step back as it seemed to be confused. ‘Probably thinks I disappeared.' I thought, smirking at its stupidity. I shook my head and looked back to the entrance.
The Menos seemed to back off and left. I relaxed, keeping my reiatsu low so I wouldn’t get any more visitors. I went back in to my nest and lay down. I rested my head on my paws and shut my eyes, hoping for some more sleep. I sighed, knowing I wouldn’t be getting back to bed anytime soon and got back up. I yawned, a wave of sleepiness hitting me. My tongue curled back as I tensed up all my muscles. I rolled my shoulders back and bounded towards the entrance, keeping my reiatsu low. I decided to go get some training in; I took long, fast strides as I jogged across the sand, knowing that un-trained eyes wouldn’t be able to see, even a blur of me. I continued my jog as I found a nice clearing. I sat down and scouted the area. First I searched reiatsu, then I checked for any thoughts in the area. There was no sign of life, so I sat down. I decided on trying out my tail duplication. I got three out easy. I nodded and tried a fourth, and focused until I finally got a fourth one out. I tested it out and made sure it was fully functional before I tried to get another out.
I kept this up till I got tired of it, besides it was starting to get hard. I stopped as soon as I got a tenth fully functional tail out. I swung them all to the left, making it seem as if they all joined together into one tail. I took a deep breath and tried to stretch out my telepathy.
'Take a deep breath. Clear your mind' I thought to myself, knowing that it would be easier if I do this. I could easily just go straight into searching for brain waves, but it would be harder to stretch out my diameter with thoughts everywhere. 'Now stretch out your mind, and search for other brain waves.' I thought, picturing it as a pop-up graph. I searched for any colored area, but didn’t see any.
You see, when I search for brain waves it’s easier to picture it as a graph. It’s basically the area that I can see is laid down under me. The trees reach out from the 'paper' just like a pop-out book. When there is a living thing around, there will be a colored dot giving off pulses, and or, their brain waves. Since I’m not very good at this, the dot is just, well a dot. When I get better I’m going to focus more so I can see the shape of the creature, maybe even make it so I can test their intelligence and strength just by looking at their brain waves. I know it sounds complicated, but it really isn’t. It’s very useful when you can’t find the enemies reiatsu. Its sort of like a second vision, I guess.
