I stared down at Wren, ready to jump out after him. I was about to do just that- I mean Wren survived, why wouldn't I?- when Lily said something that stopped me, froze me like a deer in the headlights, one leg out the window and the other still in.
"What'd you just say?" My voice was high pitched, fear knocking it up an octave.
"This body. It's still warm. We need to go. Like now."
Damn. I hadn't even thought to check the body. Mustering up courage and thinking of every cop show I'd ever seen, I crouched beside the body and began digging through his pockets.
Lily almost fainted.
"What the hell are you doing!?"
"Lily! You kiss your mother with that mouth? I'm checking for any ID, duh."
She scowled at me and I produced a wallet from the left pocket and a cracked iPhone from the right. I smirked at her, a smug look on my face.
"Can we get out of here now, please?"
"Definitely. The killer could still be here you know."
"That's what I've been trying to te-"
We heard a sound like glass breaking. It came from his parents room. I grabbed a bag and tossed some of Wren's clothes and stuff in there.
"What are you doing?"
Lily whispered.
"Wren probably didn't get to grab anything and it's not like we can come back. Now come on, we gotta beat whoever this is to the stairs and then out of the house to Wren, plus get to the car."
We started to run. We made it to the stairs before Mr. Killer Guy noticed we had gone right past him and began to follow us. I whipped open the front door, closing it behind the two of us just in time to hear Killer Guy smack into it. I bolted for where Wren was while Lily went to tell our driver to be ready to go. I found Wren laying on the ground, moaning. I knelt down next to him.
"Wren. Wren. Come on buddy, it's time to go."
His eyelids fluttered, but he gave no indication that he was going to get up.
"We're doing this the hard way huh?" I muttered. I stood and began to pull him up off the ground, or tried anyway. Suddenly I felt something wet hit my head. I looked to the sky but it was bright and blue, no clouds in sight. My glance wandered over to Wren's window and screamed. There was a horrid monster hanging it's fugly mug right out the window. It was darkly colored, like brown or really dark green. It had tusks like a walrus and I'm mostly sure it was scaly. The tusks were dripping blood, which I figured I'd what dropped on me. It's eyes were like goat eyes, but colored red. I immediately began tugging Wren off the ground with all my strength and tucked my arm around his waist to help him over to the car.
"GO GO GO!" I screamed at the driver when we got in.

We soon made it back to the place Millennium has us living in. I insisted on taking him to a hospital but Jake, the driver, said there was amazing medics here. We took him there and then went to talk to Millennium about what happened.
"What you saw was a Beast. They were placed by witches to protect your houses."
"Then why weren't they at our houses?"
"The humans. They've figured you two out."
