Chapter 19

We woke up the next morning and cooked breakfast as Chase and Emmett came over. We set the table and ate our breakfast. When we were done eating, we walked over to where the rockets were, and Emmet and Chase got to work while May and I waited to help. We walked in with them, and looked around. There was a lot of debris around from the explosion.

"So, what's going on?" I asked after they worked for a while.

"Ugh." Chase started. "I don't think we can get any of this to work anymore."

"Why not?"

"The explosion broke just about everything that wasn't already broken."

"Well, what about Mays rocket?"

"There wouldn't be enough working parts to make a device to contact planet Xoon."

"Why not?"

"We were pushing our luck with the combined parts of our rockets, and just one rocket wouldn't have nearly enough working parts."

"So are we just giving up?"

"I don't know what else to do, other than wait for more winners from the drawings."

"Umm." May started. "there aren't going to be anymore drawings."

"What?"

"I'm the last one."

"Great, so we most likely won't ever get to contact planet Xoon."

"If we don't have the technology, then I don't know what else we could do."

"There isn't anything else we can do, nothing in here works anymore."

"Is there any chance that Mays rocket has enough working technology?" I asked.

"I don't think so. I don't think anything in her rocket is working that wasn't working in ours, but we can check."

We walked over to her rocket, and looked inside. By the disappointed looks on Chase and Emmett's faces, I didn't think that they found anything.

"There isn't much here that we could use, and it wouldn't be enough anyway."

"Ok, we can just take a break on this until we can find some other way to finish this."

"No, there is no other way, we're done."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, we can just live here. Just the four of us."

"That would still be kind of nice."

"Yeah, why don't we go do something?"

We all walked around and went bowling for a few hours until we got bored and decided we would go on a walk. On our walk, we found a cliff and we walked up to the top of it. When we got to the top, we each sat down. May was on my right, and Chase was on my left with Emmett on Chases left. We sat in silence for a few minutes and looked out across the land as the sun was setting.

"This is beautiful." I said, as I broke the silence.

"Yeah, the sky is so red and orange, with just a little pink in the middle." May added.

"Yeah, this place really is great." Chase agreed.

"I can't believe people let this place get ruined." Emmett said.

"Yeah, it's a shame that no one else will get to see this place... this amazing place." I said as the sun finished setting.
