Earth? Earth was just a story where I was from. Earth was a place that very few actually knew. To me and just about everyone else, earth was like fiction. To the people old enough, Earth was just a short memory.

My name is Raley, and everyone has been living in space shuttles for as long as I can remember. We have been living very close together and in very small spaces. I share my room with my adopted sister, and three other girls. I was living like this practically since I was born. The only family I have left is a brother, Michael, who is 12 years old, younger by four years, and an adopted sister, May, that is a year older than me.

There wasn't a lot of room on the space shuttles, so unless it was time to eat, we were mostly in our rooms. Our rooms were very plain, just beds and one dresser for every two people. No one really had a lot of belongings, so it was ok to share things.

My sister May and I are very close to each other, considering it was the two of us for four years until my brother came along. My parents adopted her soon after she was born, her dad and mom had left her after birth because they thought she was dead, and my parents found her, and kind of saved her.

I was sixteen and had been on a space shuttle my entire life. In the space shuttle, we all wore a different color of clothes to represent how old we were, tan for the people who were old enough to at least be born on Earth, red for the adults who were never on earth, green for us teenagers, and blue for the younger children.

There was never a whole lot to do on the space shuttles, except socialize with other people. There aren't a lot of people on the shuttles, but we are told that at one time there were over 7 billion people in the world. Not many of those people however were able to get on the space shuttles, and even then by now not many are left that have seen and/or walked on the Earth.

When I was little I always wanted to live on the Earth, it was such a mystery to everyone. May and I would play and pretend we were on Earth. We would make up things about what it was like, and to everyone it sounded amazing. Even though anyone who had been on Earth that could remember it, said it was nothing special. I liked it and miss it when we were kids and didn't have any responsibility, but that doesn't happen anymore to anyone.
