As we pull up to the house, I begin to regret leaving David behind at the hospital. "Maybe we should wait..."
"No. I'm going in and you can stay in the car." Will tells me and he steps out of the car. I watch him walk up to the door and knock and before I realize it, I'm right next to him doing the same. I need to stay focused and not think about how David will feel about this because all I care about right now is getting Ian to pay for what he did.
I dig my hand into my purse, fiddling with the gun inside that I've had on me every day for the past month. I had to fake a signature from my guardian to buy it but I need it for my protection. I don't know how much hurt I can take and if I have to take Ian down myself, I'll do it.
Will looks at me with a certain look in his eyes that I'm unable to read but he knocks again. After the silence rings in my ears, I let out a sigh and reach for the doorknob. It's unlocked, and I step inside. When Will doesn't follow behind me, I look back at him. "Are you coming or not?" I whisper. He looks confused but he nods and walks inside, slowly shutting the door to not make a sound.
I've never been in this part of the house, well I was but I was too drugged to remember, but in a way the room doesn't even seem like anything bad could ever happen here. I hear a faint noise behind me and I jerk around before my jaw drops to the floor. "Jenna?"
Her hair is unruly and her eyes look bloodshot. I have no idea how or why she's here but the feeling of reunion takes over me and I hug her frail body. "What are you doing here? Is this where you've been this whole time? Jenna I've been wondering where you've been for months, why are you here? Are you okay?" the questions seem to flow from me and I forget that this is Ian's house. "Where is Ian? I'm going to kill him."
Her voice is quiet and hoarse but she speaks. "Oh my god, Katherine..." she wraps her bony arms around me and I take a step back to look at her. The last time I saw her she looked nothing like this. She looks skinnier than she ever has, and in an unhealthy way. Her heart is ramming against her ribcage as I feel her body against mine and I get more worried by the second.
"Jenna, tell me where Ian is. I'm going to get you out of here." I look into her shaking eyes.
"He's..."
"See? I knew you wouldn't be able to stay away." I hear his voice behind me, cutting off Jenna and I'm afraid to turn around.
I squeeze my eyes shut as if it will erase him but I still hear his heavy breathing. I turn around; watching Will take in Ian with a sickened look on his face. Ian walks towards me, his eyes not leaving my stomach for a second. Just as he's about to touch my bump, he falls to the floor from Will throwing his body away from me.
Ian scrambles but quickly picks himself up and gives Will a blow to the face. After stumbling backwards, they take a look at each other until Ian grins again. "So David gets injured and you crawl to the next lowlife willing to protect you from me. I'll save you the trouble and you can just stay here with me."
"Why do you have Jenna?" I ignore him and look back towards her. She's sitting on the steps, watching the two of them fight like she's used to seeing it every day. I wonder how long she's been here, why she's here, and what's happened to her. I find myself reaching inside of the purse and I'm scared of what my actions consequences will be after what I'm thinking.
"Don't worry Katherine, she's staying here voluntarily." He walks towards me again. He circles around me and I feel his eyes wander down my body. I smack his dirty hands away when he tries to touch me and I walk to stand next to Will. We're now both facing the stairway, where Jenna is still sitting and Ian stands close to her.
