Will's POV
"You okay in there?" I ask her from the door. I heard her turn off the water a while ago but I don't know exactly how to take care of someone who just escaped this horrible life.
"I'm fine." She answers.
"Are you hungry? I can make you something." I offer. "I don't have much but there's a few things I can cook if you want."
She doesn't answer so I assume she isn't hungry. I shrug my shoulders and walk into the kitchen to make myself some food. After eating, Jenna still hasn't come out of the bath. I walk back into the room, wiggling the doorknob before realizing she locked it, obviously. "Are you still good in there?" I feel stupid asking if she's okay over and over again but I don't know how to talk to her.
She doesn't answer and something about the deafening silence gives me a bad feeling. "Jenna?" She doesn't answer again and this silence is even worse than the last. I turn the knob again but it's still locked. After making the quick decision that this could be really bad, I ram again the wooden door a few times before it collapses to the floor. I have no idea how this girl thinks, or if there was more of a reason for why she went to that asylum, but I get the feeling she shouldn't be left alone.
I push away the thoughts of what will be on the other side but when the door finally buckles down and falls to the ground, the sight in front of me brings me to my knees. "Shit." My heart is about to combust as I watch her still body at the bottom of the tub. The water doesn't have a trace of movement, meaning she's been this way for a while. "Shit, shit, shit." I pull her pail, blistered body from the boiling water and lay her on my bed in the next room.
Between dialing Katherine's number and trying to revive Jenna, I continue to push on her chest to let the water spill out from her lungs. "Wake up! Get up!" I scream in her face but she just lies there with her eyes closed. She has no pulse and the sound of the phone ringing, waiting for anyone to pick up is the worst sound in the world.
Finally Katherine picks up the phone and I speak over her before she can even say hello. "Katherine, you need to get over here now. Jenna isn't waking up and she...she was..." Shock takes over me and I can't form any more words to come out as I stare at the still body in front of me.
"What? What the hell are you talking about? Will?" Katherine asks repeatedly. I open my mouth to speak but meaningless stutters fall out. "Will, text me your address. I'll be there as soon as I can but whatever is happening, please god...fix it." She hangs up. My eyes haven't moved from Jenna for what feels like hours.
I shakily grab my phone to text Katherine my address. She doesn't even know what's going on over here but she could tell by my voice that she needs to get here right away. I don't even know if I should call the police, or what to do at all, so I push my hands against her chest again. I bring my lips to hers as I push breath inside the empty body in front of me, wishing nothing else but for her to open her eyes.
David's POV
As I slowly make my way to pick Katherine up from the library, I think of all the things I should say. Before I can make the entire sorry speech, she calls me and I pick it up after the first ring can even finish. "Hello?"
"You need to hurry. Speed, I don't care. Jenna is at Will's house and he just called, telling me she isn't waking up. I don't know the whole story but we need to get there, now."
"What the hell? How did she even get to Will's house?"
"It's a long story, David, just please get here fast!" She yells at me and hangs up. I press my foot against the gas, speeding towards the library and pick Katherine up. She gives me Will's address and we head that way.
