Jenna's POV

When we get back to my mothers house after dinner, she's finally awake and on the phone. Her head pops up from behind the wall and she comes running to me when she recognizes the intruders. "Oh, Jenny! What in the world is going on?"

I hug her and realize how much I missed her voice. "Mom, everything is fine. I think." I honestly don't know what's going to happen next. I never had a plan on what to do when I got here, I just knew I had to be home.

"Well everything is going to be fine when I tell the police what's going on!" She lifts the phone to her ear but I knock it out of her hands and hang up.

"No! That's the last thing you want to do. Mom, please, just trust me."

"Jenna, a few hours ago there was a gun to my head and I wake up, not knowing anything, and you think I'm not going to call the cops. Clearly college didn't teach you enough, honey!" She yells. Memories of her always yelling fills the void I've been thinking of but I push it to the back of my mind. "What are you even doing back here?"

"I'll tell you everything later." I lie. "Just know that you're safest when you don't call the cops, okay?"

"You will tell me what's happening now, Jenna." She demands.

"Okay, mom. Here's what's happening. My former rapist along with a man that is willing to do anything for money are in the car, about to come inside any second. I'm back to get my life back together and I'm not sure how long they are planning to stay. But if you call the cops right now, we may never be rid of them, okay? Trust me, those two can get out of anything." I recall everything the two of them were talking about at dinner. I'm surprised I'm even telling my southern belle of a mother anything, but this is the only way to shut her up and listen.

"Rapist? Jenna Long, what do you think you're talking about?" My mother picks the only thing that stands out to her, of course, and her features rise with every deep breath.

Before I can even attempt at answering her question, Ian and Darren enter the house. A part of me is glad that I don't have to explain all of this yet, but I know that tonight isn't just going to breeze by.

Darren walks towards us and points upstairs, as if directing us where to go. I laugh until I feel Ian's hand pressed against my back, leading my mother and I up each step. "Wait, you're kidding right?" I turn my head to look down at him but he looks forward, pushing me and not saying a word.

"Ian, this is my house, god damn it! You're not doing this to me again." I scream at him and stand firm at the top step. I will not be held prisoner in my own home.

"It's only for tonight." He whispers in my ear before leading us both into my old bedroom. I sit on the bed, confused, watching Darren give a taunting smile before shutting the door.

I hear the lock turn from outside before he tells us, "No sneaking out." My mom looks over to me with a horrified look on her face, but I tell her we'll be fine. I don't know why Ian acts different around Darren, but I'm going to find out.

Katherine's POV

After my shift and the creepy note from Ian, I thank Jeremy for all he's done for me tonight and get back to my car. I'm exhausted from everything I had to deal with today, and now I have nowhere to sleep either. Since I don't get paid until sometime next week, I count my tips and am thankful when I find that I have enough for a motel. I need to find my own place soon, but for now this is what I have to do.

I end up finding my way back to the same motel that I stayed in last night, and my heart drops when I see David parked in the lot. I almost get back on the interstate to not face him, but like always, I find myself drawn to him.
