"Me?" She retorts. I nod without looking at her. "Why me? What did I do?" The worry in her voice is evident.

"You're my weakness, Katherine. It's always going to be you and people are going to try to take you away from me, but that's not going to happen, okay?" She doesn't look at me either but sinks further into the bed. "I'm not going to let anything else happen to you, Kath---"

"Don't you get it? It doesn't matter what you do, bad things are always going to happen to me." Her voice booms throughout the room and she brings her face to mine. "Just let it happen, David. It's inevitable."

"Don't talk like that. Stop, okay?" I search her eyes for any sign of hope but she's all out. I know how much she's been through, and when we finally get Ian caught, another problem comes on us. "Katherine, I have the money. This doesn't have to be a problem."

"Where do you even get all this money?" She asks and my gulp is probably heard from across the hall.

"It's a long story...you should rest right now, okay?"

"No, David. Tell---"

A doctor from earlier today walks in through the door, interrupting Katherine. "How are you feeling, Ms. Willick?"

"Fine."

"That's good to hear. Were you told of your condition?"

"Yes." Katherine's one-word responses send a chill down my spine.

"Well we're glad we could help. Stay on your medicine and everything should be fine."

The doctor hands me some paperwork and goes over everything once more. I notice Katherine's eyes go wide for a few seconds but wait until the doctor leaves the room to ask her what's wrong.

"I forgot to take the medicine, that's why." Her face is full of regret for herself and her hand travels down to her stomach.

"It's going to be okay, alright? I'll remind you every morning to take it. Now we know what happens when you don't take it."

"And how are you going to pay Darren?" She asks with big eyes.

"I have enough, Katherine. Don't worry about it." I brush it off.

"How? How do you happen to have all this money? We should be honest with each other and..." She stops her small speech and picks at her fingers. I know that look, the one where she realizes something as she's talking. "Nevermind." She finally says.

"What?" I know there's something.

"Nothing. You have your secrets and I have mine, okay? All I need to know is that I'll be safe. Is Darren going to be a problem?"

I think of the right thing to say. I've lied to her before and the outcome was pretty shitty, but I don't know what would hurt her more; the truth or the lie? "No, Darren won't be a problem." I say before I can process my words. She looks pleased with the lie but now I have a mission on this trip, to give Darren whatever he wants before he becomes a problem.

Jenna's POV

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

Ian is dressed from head to toe in the same uniform that I'm forced to wear, and he walks right towards me. Of course he'd be sent to the same exact place that I'm staying in. There's no hope for him, that's why I'm here in the first place. If I was successful in my murder plan, he could be dead and I could live the rest of my pitiful life in peace. But here he is, standing in front of me with the same grin that will never leave his chiseled face.
