David's POV

"You're on my property, you know." Ian shuts the trunk door but his eyes never leave the gun in my hand. Little does he know that this is actually one of his many guns stored away in this very barn.

"Yeah, you're one to follow the rules, aren't you?" I remark and take a step closer. I can see the fear in his eyes; I recognize them from the only other time I've ever seen it.

Jenna tries to exit the car with the baby in hand, but Ian pushes her back inside and shuts the door. "Stay in there." I barely hear him say. He whispers something else to her that seems to make her remain in the car. I try to take a quick look of the baby in the car but Ian ends up pushing me by the shoulders when I realize how close I got.

"This is my property." He states again, more angrily this time. His patience is wearing thin.

"Maybe." I shrug. "But that is not your baby."

"Really? Because I could get a paternity test in five minutes and prove you wrong."

I remind him that I'm the one with the gun with another click of the trigger and that seems to bring back the fear. I look back over to Jenna and she can't seem to take her eyes off the trigger either.

Somehow I feel mad as I hold the gun out in front of me. My mind quite literally feels like it's shaking, along with my hands holding the gun, and all I can focus on is a bullet going through Ian's head after everything he's done to me.

"Put the gun down." He tells me.

"Give me the child." I already know this bargain won't be easy to access but I'm not leaving without Alice.

I begin to think of Katherine and how desperate she must be feeling at this moment. She's hours away from me, with only the hope that I'll be coming back with her child. I don't know what happens after that, or what will happen to us, but I promised to come back with Alice and I have no intentions on breaking that.

Katherine's POV

"Here you go." Will hands me a small plate filled with a slice of what appears to be cake. "The nurses say you can finally eat. You must be starving." He smiles and tries to make up for the fact that he's the reason I'm here.

"Thanks." I grab the small plate and shakily lift the small fork. I feel like I've been in this hospital bed for days but it's only been a day; the longest hours of my life. The only thing getting me by is the relief I'll feel when David comes back with Alice.

"You know, you get to leave here in a few hours." Will reminds me for the third time this morning.

"Yeah." I huff and swallow the cake. "Then what?"

"Then we can do anything we want, Katherine." He sits down next to me and puts a hand on my blanketed leg. "After this, we're free. You're free. Ian's gone now."

I scrunch my face is disgust. "Are you kidding?" He looks at me, confused, as if he's completely right and I'm the one who's crazy. "I'm never free. He took everything from me, Will!" His features sink as he comes to the obvious realization but I continue. "He took my innocence, my life, and now, my baby. So, no, I'm never really free, am I?"

"Look, Katherine, I'm sorry." He tells me. "You may not be able to get back your innocence, but you are going to get back your baby." Will assures. "And I've seen her, Katherine. She's beautiful, just like you. Right now she's in a tough situation, but just like you, she's going to overcome it and come out stronger." He smiles.

Even though I hate Will right now, something about him always seems to make me smile. This situation really couldn't get any worse this time, so I need to start looking in a positive direction. David will get the baby, and after that, everything else will fall back into place. There'll be no more Ian, and I could finally live in peace.
