Chapter 40 – Going home

<Team Rocket’s Helicopter>

“60 seconds remaining before the Electrodes detonate.” The announcer announced.

Those words jolted Steven out of his trance. “Sixty seconds!” He said to himself. “That’s more than enough time!”

Quickly, he slid his fingers through his belt of pokeballs and sent out the remaining of his Pokémon. ‘Boom!’ Immediately, four more Pokémon appeared. There was his Metagross, Skarmory, Aggron and Armaldo. Each of them regarded Steven with a solemn expression – they already knew what was happening from their pokeballs. They knew the consequences of failure.

“Metagross, Aggron, destabilise the helicopter with Earthquake!” Steven commanded.

The two Pokémon immediately got it work, stomping the floor of the helicopter with their giant legs. They created huge shockwaves which shook the helicopter vigorously. Steven glanced to the side. The two rows of Electrodes seemed unfazed by the quaking.

“Armaldo, break the windows with Brick Break!” Steven shouted as he pointed to the windows at the side of the aircraft.

The windows looked clear and transparent but Steven knew better than to underestimate Legacy. It was probably made of ballistic glass – a highly resistant and bulletproof glass. It would take time and energy to break through it, but for now, it was Steven’s only possible avenue of escape.

Armaldo quickly rushed to the side and started smashing its rock-hard hide against the glass. Tiny cracks were appearing but the glass held strong. Armaldo persisted and Steven looked away to command his other Pokémon.

Now, Steven had to buy some time by preventing the Electrodes in his room from exploding within the sixty seconds. There were probably Electrodes in other portions of the ship, so the explosion was inevitable. His game plan was to stop the explosion in his room only to buy some time for Armaldo to break the glass and escape through the glass with his Skarmory.

The entire helicopter rumbled and suddenly, it tilted to the side slightly to the right. The earthquakes caused by his two Pokémon had worked! The round Electrodes started rolling to the right of the room.

“All right!” Steven rejoiced. So far, everything was going exactly as planned. “Claydol, Metagross, prepare for attack. Go to the rightmost corner of the room.” Steven said as he pointed to the corner of the room. He quickly hopped behind Skarmory’s back and the both of them took off slightly.

Claydol and Metagross levitated quickly to the corner of the room.

“Aggron, keep the earthquakes going. I don’t want the ship correcting its course.”

“30 seconds remaining before the Electrodes detonate.”

“Claydol, Rapid Spin, now!”

Claydol gave off a strange sound and started spinning rapidly about its axis. It was balanced delicately on its little pointed tip and was spinning so quickly that its features became a blur.

“Yes!” Steven could see it now. His opportunity. The aircraft was not tilted heavily to the right, and all of the spherical Electrodes had rolled to the right side of the ship. At the right most corner of the room, there was his Claydol, which was spinning rapidly like a top, and his Metagross, ready for some action.

“METAGROSS! USE METEOR MASH ON CLAYDOL NOW!” Steven shouted with all his might.

His Metagross gave a slight moan of hesitation, and then quickly raised its arm to prepare for its attack. A white glow enveloped the tip of its arm.
