Chapter 10 – Professor Pokémon’s lab
<Professor Pokémon’s Lab>
“Wait up Isaac! You run too fast!” Emma exclaimed. “I can’t catch up! Hey Isaac are you even listening to me?”
Emma cleared the last patch of grass before bumping into Isaac’s back.
“Oww! Watch where you’re going Emma!” Isaac hissed.
“Wow… So this is it? Professor Pokémon’s house…” Emma whispered.
The duo quickly surveyed around the house. In actual fact, the house was more of the size of a hut; it was extremely small. The lawn was overgrown with weeds and plants that the professor probably never had time to clear, or simply do not want to. The lights were off in this house too, and it was extremely quiet inside.
“Well, nothing suspicious on the outside at least. I wonder if he’s fine in there.”
“Remember the guard we just defeated at Route 30? He wouldn’t be there for no reason, right?”
“ Well, I don’t see any lights on… Oh no! This is just like what happened in daddy’s lab.” Emma yelled. She quickly went to try opening the door. “It’s locked!”
“Shush… You don’t want to alert anyone inside. Now… watch and learn.” Isaac whispered back. He looked at the lock for a while, took a deep breath, and took a step backward. “Hahh! Die you rockets die!” Isaac shouted as he rushed and slammed on the door with his right shoulder. The weak door on the hut could not withstand his weight and like a replay of the previous lab, he fell face-first on the ground together with the door as the hinges broke.
“Oh Arceus! Are you all right Isaac?” Emma asked. She quickly looked up and surveyed around the lab. “Well at least there seems to be no one here. Were we too late?”
Isaac moaned. “Oww… I should probably stop doing that.” He quickly got up to his feet. “Hmm where is the light switch? This place seems so dark even though it’s like ten in the morning.” He felt around the walls.
“Oh dear… Looks like I have some visitors.” A mysterious voice came from within.
“What? Who’s there!” Isaac turned and shouted fiercely, hands ready at his pokeball.
‘Click!’ The lights flickered on. A short and stubby old man with a lab coat walked towards them, both hands in the air.
“Relax, child. I mean you no harm.” He looked sternly at Isaac. “Rather, what are the both of you doing here? This is my house after all.”
“Your… house?” Isaac repeated.
“Oh dear, looks like you broke down my door.” He stared at Isaac. “You know, you could’ve knocked it first. I probably would’ve answered.”
“Wait… Are you professor Pokémon?” Emma asked.
“That would be me. And you must be Emma, you look just like your mother, so young and yet so beautiful. What brings you here to my humble abode?” Professor Pokémon said.
Emma blushed. “Have we met before..?”
“No, but your father often mentions you when we meet up for our projects. How is he?” He asked. “Is he still collecting rock specimens from Holon? I have some here.” The professor took out a couple of normal looking rocks and held it out to Emma.
Emma’s expression immediately darkened.
Isaac saw it and quickly said, ”Sorry for breaking your door, professor. Actually we’re not here for a casual visit.”
