**Flashback 2 hours**
"Now guys, what do you have?" I ask them as we scout the walls for any more clues.
"I have my sunglasses." Erin holds up her oversized sunnies, she got them for a disco party we were invited to a few months ago, never wore them once. "The oversizing of the mirror should project a clear, if not slightly convex, image."
"And I have a spoon." Fred holds it up gleefully.
"Fred."
"What?" He asks, holding on to his spoon.
"Why do you have a spoon?" I ask.
"Because it reflects things."
"And?"
"And because I forgot I had to find something that reflects... So I grabbed the first thing I saw."
"A spoon?"
"Yes."
"Alright." I give up, this boy is ridiculous. "Now, we reassemble in an hour, for the time being split up."
"I'll head to the library." Erin says.
"And I'll head to the kitchen-"
"Fred." I raise my brow at him.
"I'll head to the bathrooms." He mumbles, dangling his spoon.
"Good. Now, if you see anything quickly hold up your sunnies... or your spoon, and don't look in to it's eyes. We have 5 victims already petrified and Professor Sprout is already working on growing her mandrakes, she doesn't need anymore trouble on her hands to work faster, got it?" I ask them.
"Aye, aye Cap'n." Fred salutes as he backs off down the corridor.
"See you soon." Erin runs down another corridor.
Soon better come quickly.
I head up the stairs to the Grand Hall. I really hope we find something, some sort of clue. Anything to help Harry, the books didn't really say anything about this sort of thing. So we're going off a whim that the basilisk only moves at night.
All seems clear in the Grand Hall, now just to wait. This room is the largest in the whole castle, so if anything makes a sound it'll echo right through here, I've just gotta listen.
...
It's been an hour, and nothings happened. Maybe I was wrong to think it only comes out at night, maybe it's already done it's deed during the day.
Now, to just find the other two.
I grab out my phone as I creep down the hallways. My reflective object is the camera on my phone, the best there is for now. Better than a mirror, or a ghost... and certainly a spoon.
I mean a spoon? Really Fred?
"Where's my spoon?!" A voice comes down the hallway. Fred? "Found it!"
"Oy! What are you doing here?!" Another voice calls out. It's Erin, she sounds panicky.
"I lost my spoon, but I found it."
"Good, I found the serpent!" She says.
"Where!?"
"R-right behind us! Now run!" Erin shouts halfway down the hall.
Oh no.
I run up to the hallway, stopping in my tracks as I hear it. Like water spilling on to the floor. A low hissing can be heard down the steps.
