"I can't believe it's been two years since my little pea has started school." Mum says as she wipes down some tables. I've been working at "Chelsea's Corner"- that's my Mum's cafe that she started up after I was born, very sweet I think- since the end of school. Great pay and it's a fun place to work, especially with the regulars that come in here.
I start clearing up some dishes. "Muuummm, I'm not a pea, I'm a human being."
"Oh, I know, but you're just. So. Cute." She says as she pinches my cheek. "You're growing up too fast!"
"I know, you should put a brick on my head I'm getting so tall, towering over you now, nearly 5 foot 8. And I can't believe I'll be starting the third year soon. Maybe I'll try out for a spot on the Quidditch team too, Fred and George got beaters last year and say that the position for Chaser has opened up as the previous Chaser finished school.
"There's also a position for seeker open as well, but they say I'd make a pretty wicked Chaser, for I have the speed and a great arm- they have first hand experience with the amount of times I've thwacked them, always goofing off those two!" I say, as I restock the fridges with various drinks.
"You should definitely go for it, hun. And who knows what, you could be the next Hollyhead Harpie." Mum grins, she's a big dreamer, but I'm not that good. If anyone were to get a position on that team, it'd be Ginny, Fred and George's little sister. She's got the agility and quick-thinking to do so, which is what you need on the pitch for there are flying balls with minds of their own trying to crush you till you're nothing more than a paste on the ground.
"Heh, yeah. Maybe Mum." I look at the clock, "They should be here any minute." I'm going over to the Weasley's for the last two weeks of holidays because mum and dad are both working, well I told them to go to work because we're running a little tight with money- the Weasley's, and Thomas's, that's Erin's family, offered to help out, but we declined, would feel bad if we took their money. And I miss my red-headed family, my second family, honestly I've spent so much time their since first year that Mrs Weasley thinks of me as her own daughter, I get invited to family dinners and events all the time. My and the Weasley's family are very close, Mum and Molly- that's what she's said to call her because I'm practically family- are always going out for tea or something, and Dad is always showing Arthur muggle items.
A loud pop sounds through the air, before I can turn to see who it is I'm engulfed in a tight hug.
"Guys." I gasp out. "I- kinda- need to- breathe!" I say through raspy short breaths. My captors let go and have large goofy grins plastered on to their faces.
"Moooorning Gidgets." George says enthusiastically. "Mornin' Mia."
"Mornin' George, Fred, had a good day?"
"Bloody brilliant now." Fred beams at her. My, they're awfully cheerful today.
"Mia!" Molly cheers. "Haven't seen you since the start of holidays."
"Molly." Mum smiles, giving her a bone-crushing hug, she gives Molly a run for her money. Even if Mum is stick-skinny, she's got great strength.
"Chelsea." Molly gives me a hug. "Are you ready, sweetie?"
I go in to the back room and collect my trunk and bag. "Yep." I say as I return to the others."
"Well, have a great year, honey. Will be seeing you on the holidays, right?" Mum asks as she comes and gives me one of her famous bone-crushing hugs.
"I will, tell Dad I said bye."
"No need." He walks into the room, the closed sign jingling against the door.
