30 Best Friends?

It is the next day of school. After the ordeal with Hinata, Haru and I hung around with them. After that, we went home.

Right now, I am in a group with Aisara, Eren and SiSi. SiSi and Eren is, as usual, fawning over Mr. Ackerman. Aisara is just chilling her and telling me about basketball practice. I try hard to concentrate on the conversation with my wandering mind.

"Hey, King Water," Haru says from behind me.

I turn seeing only Haru. I ask, "Where's Makoto?"

Haru answers, "He said that he was feeling sick."

I nodded. That was probably why I wasn't getting any calls from him yesterday, or he's finally over me! A girl could only wish.

Kagami comes up to our group. He wraps his arm around Aisara's wrist and greets her with a kiss on the cheek.

I grumble, "Get a room."

Aisara pouts, "This is minimum. Better me glad!"

I went, "Humph! At least, Haru and I keep our moments to ourselves."

"Oooh," SiSi says slyly. "What do you two do?"

I immediately regret what I said. I stumble, "I um we, um duh, we, uh-."

"Sometimes I feed her Mackerel. We would cuddle too." Haru interrupts me.

"Aww!" Aisara and SiSi goes.

I blush at their responses.

Haru grabs my hand and says, "Walk with me."

I nod. I say to them, "See you later!"

She says, "See you later, Lexi!" She turns back to Eren. They continue talking until she hears whispering nearby.

"Did you see Makoto?"

"He looked creepy."

"Didn't that King girl date him?"

"I saw him go to the pool."

"He didn't look so good."

"But he's still hot!"

SiSi asks, "You heard that?" She looks around seeing a group of girls talking.

Eren glances around and nods. He says, "Sound weird. Do you know where Haru and Lexi went?"

SiSi shakes her head no. She says urgently, "We should follow them."

Haru and I walk to the pool. It looks so empty in the morning sunlight. We stop in front of the pool. He puts his arm around my shoulders.

I ask, "Why did you want me to come with you?"

He answers, "We didn't get a chance to spend time together after practice... I'd like to hang out with you alone."

Immediately, I flinch.

Quickly, he let's go of me. He asks, "What's wrong. Did I do something?"

"Um," I stutter. "I-I..." I am a speechless. My heart is fluttering in a bad way. "A-Alone?"

Haru's eyes widens as he notices what he said. He asks, "Did I remind you of Makoto?"

I nod. I don't say a thing. It feels like my stress just spiked through the roof.

Haru says in a quiet voice, "I'm sorry. Want to go back to your friends?"

I smile at him weakly. He cares about my wellbeing, and I appreciate that.
