(Lyssa's POV)
I stormed up the stairs go find Oliver sitting on my bed. Seeing him I burst into tears and collapsed on the floor. "Y-you heard everything?" I asked."Yeah, I did," Oliver replied, "but I-" Before Oliver could finish his sentence, we heard a scream from downstairs.
"That sounded like Mom!" I gasped. "Come on," I said to Oliver, pulling him with me. He looked upset about something, but I couldn't tell what. I ran downstairs with Oliver trailing behind me. Just before I was about to walk head on into danger, he pulled me back.
"Lyssa, be carful," Oliver grabbed my hand and headed into the kitchen. There was someone in a dark mask who was attacking Mom and another man in the corner: standing there watching it all happen. Just then, Jorden came into the room, too. He didn't see Oliver and I and went to help Mom.
"Get me a knife!" I told Oliver. I had been taking self defense classes recently and I was really getting the hang of knife throwing.
"A-are you sure?" He asked worriedly, "Please be careful..." He handed me the knife and I flung it as hard as I could at my mother's assailant. It seemed as if in that moment, time slowed down. I could see the blade sailing through the air. It was a clean shot.
"Wait, Lyssa, look," Oliver pointed to the strange man in the corner. He was deftly moving his hand through the air. It was moving as if he were controlling something.
Then it hit me, "He's controlling the blade..." I gasped. As I was watching the man's hand, my thoughts were interrupted by a blood-curdling scream. "Mom!" I looked over to where she stood as the blade took a sharp turn and embedded itself in my mother's chest. "NO!" I screamed out. I tried to run to her, but Oliver held me back.
"No, Lyssa, please. He could turn it on you.." He pleaded. Just then, the knife twisted itself out of my mother's chest. It was suspended in the air for a few short seconds. Jorden was still fending off my mom's attacker. Then, with the sharp flick of the strange man's finger, the knife dug itself into Jorden's back.
I screamed and the masked man ran away. "NO!" I ran to my mom and brother. "W-WHY?!" I shrieked as the man in the corner vanished. "No..." I sobbed as I collapsed onto my brother's now lifeless body.
"Lyssa, I am so, so sorry," Oliver said, pulling me into his arms. "Look, I know you don't want to go anywhere, but we have to go before he comes back. He could come after you."
"B-but what if we just call the police? They can track him and put him in his place!"
"Lyssa, I wish we could, you know that," Oliver pleaded, "but your prints are the only set on the knife. Please... I don't want you hurt." Oliver looked at me with those beautiful green eyes of his and I couldn't say anything.. He was right.
"Okay," I said getting up and heading upstairs.
Now
"W-where are we gonna go?" I asked while packing my things into a small bag.
"I don't know.. We'll have to stay clear of my house for now," seeing my guilty look Oliver pulled me against his chest. This feels nice...
"I-I'm so sorry, Oliver," I sobbed, "You came over and I started crying, my fight with Mom woke you up and now you just watched my kill me family."
