I froze. He's here again. Doesn't he have anything else go do. I tried to shake him off, but he latched onto my arm.
"Where ya goin'?" Mark asked, obviously enjoying the current situation.
"She's going with me," Oliver replied in an annoyed tone.
"Is that so?" Mark questioned. "Ya know, i'm gonna have a big bruise, tomorrow. It'll be your fault, too, pretty boy."
Oliver glared at him. "I don't know, it might improve your face," he retorted. I tried to stifle my laughter, but failed.
"You think that's funny?" Mark asked. "I wonder how funny it'll be when your boyfriend watches me shoot you." He pulled out a gun and pressed it against my temple.
"No, no, please," Oliver tensed. He was choking back tears and I could see it. No, he's not doing this. He is not going to control my life.
The recent events started playing in my head. My brother. My mom. Having to run away. Mark touching me. Now, my best friend.
This was infuriating. I'm not going to let this happen. All of my pent-up hatred and anger was already bubbling at Mark's touch. But now, I was boiling over with these negative emotions.
I could feel all of the hate, anger and fear in my stomach. I could feel a warmth coursing through my veins. It was a feeling of power. I could feel it building up. So, I did what came naturally. I let it go.
(Oliver POV)
Lyssa was just standing there with a blank expression on her face, but that soon turned into an expression of hatred and distrust. I could see her veins glowing. Wait, glowing?! What?!
She stood there thinking for a good few seconds. Then, there were blue beams of light shooting from her fingertips. Wait, light?! She screamed in what seemed like a mix of agony and relief.
Mark tried to run, but was pinned against the wall. At least, that's what it seemed like. Lyssa didn't touch him.
"Where do you think you're going? Do you know how much pain you've caused?" her voice became harsh, "First, you killed my mom and brother, forcing me to run and sleep under a bridge. Next, you visit us at the library making a scene, only to reveal my convict uncle. Then, you meet us at breakfast to harass Oliver and I. And now, you've come here to bad mouth me and my best friend? Let me tell you something. Yes, it definitely hurt seeing my family killed. Especially, my brother, the only person in the world who cared about me. Yes, I hated having to run from my home that I grew up in, knowing that I'll never be safe there. I also hated your touch, the way you talked to me, even the way you looked at me. Those things were bad, but if there is one thing you don't wanna do. It's upsetting my best friend."
Lyssa's eyes turned a milky white and now there was streams of blue light shooting out of her body. "Now," she started scolding again, "I suggest that you leave now, before things get out of hand. You're lucky that I don't decide to kill you right now."
Mark could only reply with, "Y-you're the one... You're the one. You've inherited the t-traight.... I'll leave for now, but this won't be the last time we meet. You can count on that." He disappeared, but not before Lyssa could shoot him with a beam of light. Not enough to injure, but enough to make it hurt.
Her eyes and hair had returned to normal, along with the light fading. She collapsed onto the hard concrete. I ran to her, "A-are you alright?"
"W-what just happened?" she asked right before blacking out.
