(Lyssa POV)

I stood there frozen. I can't believe she's dead... I had no time to focus on that thought, because the demon things started moving towards Oliver and I.

They were ugly... Like big time ugly. Their faces were mangled. Ones that only a mother could love. They were dark blue and almost scaly looking. Their skin was paper thin and we could see only one organ which was a green, glowing heart.

"Crap!" Oliver exclaimed looking around as the demons started to circle us.

"What do we do?!" I asked, hoping for some smart idea of Oliver's.

"Fight them, I guess," Oliver suggested. "That seems like our only option, right now."

"O-okay..." I answered as Oliver punched a hole through one of the demons. This might be easier than I thought!

He punched another hole into a different one. I started punching and kicking holes into the demons around us and soon, we had all of the demons on the floor, dead.

"Yes!" I high-fived Oliver, but we celebrated too soon.  The demons then began to repair themselves. The holes that we had made in their chests growing smaller and smaller.

"Uh, Oliver?" I said worriedly, "You're seeing this, too... Right?"

"Y-yeah," he answered quietly.

"Maybe we have to use our powers," I suggested. It's worth a shot.

"But, I don't know how to use my powers yet..." Oliver stated.

"Well, you'll have to figure it out, now won't you?" I told him. I hate to be this way to him, but we need to figure something out fast. The demons began crawling towards us again.

(Oliver POV)

How in hell am I supposed to do this? I've never even used the powers by accident! "How am I supposed to do this, Lyssa?" I asked, voicing my confusion.

"I do it by imagining what has happened and then I focus on the light," she explained. "Imagine some one you love very much in danger or dead and these things have killed them or put them in danger."

"Okay," I replied. Just think about someone I love... Someone like Lyssa...

I began to think about how much pain she's been through in the past week and how hurt she's been. About how, I was so helpless and useless and I couldn't do anything about it. I haven't done anything to help her. What if she died?

What if she died while fighting Mark and I couldn't do anything, but stand there and watch. I'm done being useless! Just as I began to think these words, I felt a warm heat beginning to run through my body.

I then saw a bright purple light shining through my skin where my veins should be. W-what's happening? I felt all of this heat and energy build up in the pit of my stomach. I didn't know what to do, so I let my newfound instincts take over.

I outstretched my palms, separating my fingers. A bright purple light began to stream out of my fingertips. At first it went everywhere, but once I began to focus on it, I could manage to control it.

I told Lyssa to duck as I directed the light towards all of the demons. As soon as my power hit them, the demons disintegrated. After all of the demons were finished off, the light in my body began to dim and soon disappeared.

"You did it!" Lyssa exclaimed as I pulled her into a giant hug. We could hear clapping coming from the doorway as we pulled apart.

It was Madame Raja.

"Well done! I am very proud of the two of you," the older woman gushed. "You work well together and under pressure."

Lyssa and I just stood there shocked. "B-but you were dead... You were on the floor," she protested.

"Just a simple illusion, dear,"Madame Raja explained. "See?" We turned around and sure enough the woman on the floor had faded away just as the demons had done.

"Thank God!" I practically yelled. "I wouldn't be able to continue anything without you."

"No, my dear. I think you would've been just fine with controlling your light powers," she answered, "It's the conventional magic that I need to teach you."

"Conventional magic?" Lyssa wondered aloud.

"Yes, magic that young witches and warlocks would learn first," Madame Raja explained. "Little things like sending thoughts, learning to listen to thoughts, and things like that."

"Oh, okay," I smiled. "But, what was the purpose of those demons?"

The woman sighed, "Along with Obadiah's power comes the ability to do or create dark things. As of now, Mark has the power to summon demons. The ones that you just fought were only the weakest. They will become much harder to fight as Mark gets stronger."

Those were the weakest?! What are we gonna do? We don't even know what kind of power Mark has now... What if he's already too strong?

"Alright. Let's get us some dinner and call it a night," Madame Raja suggested.

Lyssa and I both nodded, ready to be done for the day. All of my previous energy was gone. That sudden surge of power had wiped me out.

We all walked towards the kitchen, ready to eat the pizza that Madame Raja had made.

(Lyssa POV)

We all were eating our dinner silently. Oliver and I were both tired from today's 'training' session and Madame Raja was apparently off in her own thoughts.

As I was eating my dinner my eyes couldn't help but wander to a certain shirtless figure sitting next to me. I can't help it that he's hot! Honestly, I think he's doing this on purpose.

I would kill to be able to officially call him mine. I really do find everything about him attractive. From his bright green eyes and shaggy brown hair to his perfectly toned muscles and caring personality. I even love his flaws, and being his best friend, I know quite a few of them.

I didn't realize that I had zoned out until Oliver waved his hand in front of my face, "Lyssa, you okay?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Just tired," I smiled.

He returned the gesture and grabbed my hand, "Goodnight, Madame Raja."

As we walked into the room hand-in-hand, my eyes gradually started to close and soon Oliver picked me up. He carried me the rest of the way and laid me on the bed, pulling me to his bare chest. We then drifted off into a somewhat peaceful sleep holding each other.
